Alberta Premier Smith called for this historic referendum in a province-wide address in May, to better understand what Albertan's want for the future of the province. The majority of Albertan's do not want to separate from Canada, however, more than 300,000 signed a petition calling for an independence referendum. Now, Canadian's await the highly anticipated result of question number 10 — to remain or to hold a binding referendum on separation. Global's Blake Lough spoke with former MLA's Shannon Phillips and Drew Barnes, on why the Smith government added question 10 to the referendum ballot.
