Description

Albertans voting decisively to remain in Canada was a “great result for Canada,” Prime Minister Mark Carney said Tuesday before a Liberal cabinet meeting. Elections Alberta began releasing the results of the province’s referendum on the topic late Monday night, with around 76 per cent of Albertans voting to remain part of Canada without any further deliberation. “Thrilled that Albertans have chosen unity. They've chosen to build together. They've chosen to continue to take care of each other, to move forward together with purpose,” the prime minister said of the incoming results. Carney revealed he spoke with Alberta Premier Danielle Smith via a phone call earlier in the morning. While their “first focus” was the tragedy that took place at Canadian Forces Base Wainright over the weekend, Carney said the two spoke of the referendum and “moving forward in the spirit of cooperative federalism — including on issues of immigration [and] other common priorities of the federal government [and] the provinces.” For more info, please go to https://globalnews.ca Subscribe to Global News Channel HERE: http://bit.ly/20fcXDc Follow Global News on X HERE: http://bit.ly/1Toz8mt Follow Global News on TikTok HERE: https://www.tiktok.com/@globalnews.ca?lang=en #GlobalNews #AlbertaReferendum #Canada #MarkCarney
