Acute Psychosis and Suicide Attempt As Manifestations of Severe Endogenous Hypercortisolism: A Case Report of Adrenocorticotropic Hormone (ACTH)-Independent Cushing Syndrome - Cureus

Cushing syndrome is an endocrine disorder caused by chronic exposure to excess cortisol. Although neuropsychiatric manifestations are common, progression to acute psychosis with a suicide attempt is exceptionally rare. We present the case of a patient with adrenocorticotropic hormone (ACTH)-independent Cushing syndrome secondary to a cortisol-secreting adrenocortical carcinoma, whose predominant neuropsychiatric manifestation was an acute psychotic episode with a suicide attempt. The patient had a five-month history of Cushingoid signs and symptoms, followed by one week of emotional lability that rapidly progressed to an acute psychotic episode with a suicide attempt prior to surgical resection, requiring hospitalization and psychiatric evaluation. Open adrenalectomy was performed, and histopathological examination confirmed a cortisol-secreting adrenocortical carcinoma. Subsequently, the patient experienced rapid resolution of psychiatric symptoms and a favorable clinical course following tumor resection. This case highlights the importance of considering hypercortisolism as a potentially reversible cause of acute psychosis and suicidal behavior. It also underscores the need to in

Mark Gurman: Apple Made 'Major Mistake' With iPhone Duo Pre-Orders - MacRumors

Despite knowing that the iPhone Duo would face "severe supply constraints" due to manufacturing challenges, Apple chose to begin iPhone Duo pre-orders on Friday instead of waiting until it had more inventory ready, according to Bloomberg's Mark Gurman. In his Power On newsletter today, he called this decision a "major mistake. " "Let me cut to the chase: Apple made a major mistake here," he said. "The company knew there would be severe supply constraints but went ahead with the launch anyway, apparently prioritizing a desire to get the device on the market early in its fiscal first quarter over satisfying demand. That will disappoint many of the early adopters most eager to buy it. "

Damn, Ben Affleck’s Batman Movie Sounds Brutal - Gizmodo

It’s been years since Ben Affleck was Batman, and even longer since his DCEU solo movie was scrapped. We know a little of what this movie would’ve been, and now former Deathstroke Joe Manganiello has shared more details. Within the pages of his memoir Bloodlines, the True Blood alum talked about his brief dalliance as the DC assassin. Had Affleck’s film happened, Slade would’ve been its main baddie in what the actor called “a superhero version of David Fincher’s The Game.” After believing the Dark Knight killed his son, Slade would’ve “dismantled Batman’s entire life” by killing Commissioner Gordon, kidnapping Alfred, and breaking into the Batcave. He also would’ve had a two-on-one fight between Batman and Batgirl, with him nearly killing the heroes before they escaped. Manganiello went on to say there’d have been a one-on-one “showdown through the streets of Gotham” for the film’s climax. According to him, this fight was inspired by Batman: Arkham Origins’ reveal trailer. The 2013 game had Deathstroke and a scene where Bane broke into the Batcave and nearly killed Alfred. Given Affleck was in talks for this movie a few years after Origins, it’s easy to see the connections.

Forza Horizon Is No Longer the King of Video Game Road Trips

The Forza Horizon games are great racing games. But something else they excel at is virtual video game tourism. They're based on real-world destinations, where you can jump in your favorite ride and take a tour, seeing the sights: the Mediterranean coast, the Scottish highlands, the Outback, Tokyo city. This is an activity I treasure. I love road trips, both in real life and in games. I love them to the extent that I mapped out and built a guide to the best scenic drives across every Forza Horizon game. But still, there's an unreality to the Forza road trip experience that bothers me. The maps, as big and spectacularly beautiful as they are, are condensed, theme-park versions of the real thing, where you can drive from a Cotswolds village to the Scottish highlands in five minutes. You don't get that sense of journeying from place to place. The Test Drive Unlimited games I played on Xbox 360, with their 1:1 recreations of the islands of Oahu and Ibiza, were much better on this score. But, on these islands, there's a limit to how varied the terrain can be, and to the sense of long-haul adventure they can inspire.

Chris joined CarBuzz in June 2025. He's held positions at Ford and Motor1, and contributed to Autoblog, Car Throttle, Auto Trader, and many other motoring outlets during his 28-year career. Chris holds a BA in English from Western Michigan University and an AA in Journalism. Growing up in the 1980s in the shadow of Detroit, Chris didn't realize he was witnessing a turning point in automotive history. He just thought digital dashes and pop-up headlights were cool, and no car could ever be as awesome as KITT from Knight Rider. He also came from a car-crazy family, so when he graduated from college with English and Journalism degrees, he applied his communication talents to the wild world of cars.

LOY: Downplaying Canada's role in the War of 1812 isn't 'owning the libs' — it's wilful historical ignorance

OpinionAs the Canadian conservative movement struggles to find its feet in this new Trump-crazed world, attacking the PM for loyalist-posting is not a good way to go about it.
