Description
A Port Moody woman says a mobility scooter purchased for her late husband was never received. More than a year after the purchase, Patricia Pennington and her family began trying to determine what happened and sought a refund from Scooter City. The dispute became especially difficult for Pennington after the death of her husband, who was supposed to use the scooter. Scooter City initially declined to refund the purchase and instead offered a replacement scooter as a solution. Pennington said there was no evidence the scooter ever arrived at her address. After Consumer Matters contacted the company, Scooter City issued a full refund. General manager Vince Sara later apologized, saying offering a replacement scooter instead of a refund was not an appropriate response. He also added he could not confirm the scooter had been delivered. The Better Business Bureau says consumers and businesses should document agreements in writing to help resolve disputes if problems arise.
