A Tesla ran a stop sign and killed a man, record confirms Full Self-Driving/Autopilot was on

A Tesla Model 3 ran a stop sign in Buena Vista Township, New Jersey, and hit a Honda Civic turning left through the intersection. The Civic’s driver, 82-year-old Stephen Field, was killed. Police reported it as a car that failed to stop. What no one reported is that Tesla’s own data says the car’s driver-assist system was engaged. This is part of an ongoing Electrek investigation matching reported crashes to Tesla’s redacted NHTSA data. more…

If a Tesla Cybercab fleet were profitable, Tesla wouldn’t sell you one

Tesla is now asking businesses whether they’d like to buy and operate their own fleets of Cybercab robotaxis on its network. It’s the same pitch Elon Musk has been making since 2019: buy the cars, put them to work, and earn money while you sleep. There’s one problem with it. And it never happened, and you shouldn’t fall for it now. If running a fleet of Cybercabs were actually profitable, Tesla wouldn’t sell you a single one. more…

Review: Engwe’s $900 Eagle isn’t just the best-priced 45mph mini eMoto

Engwe came to us a month ago with the Eagle and asked if we’d like to review it. The eMoto looks and is specced a lot like some of the other 14/12″ mullet mini eMotos that have flooded the market over the past year, which wasn’t immediately enticing. However, the Eagle smashes through that $1000 price point to $899 after coupon code ELECTREKCO (plus some limited-time gifts) . We thought it would be useful to see how they did it and what we found might surprise you. more…

Evoke’s new $5,000 electric motorcycle can hit highway speeds, coming to US & EU

Electric motorcycles have long had a pricing problem. While battery-powered scooters and e-bikes have increasingly pushed into affordable territory, highway-capable electric motorcycles still tend to carry fairly hefty price tags. One Detroit-area Hyundai dealer wants $400 to charge your car

Drivers opening an EV charging app for the first time today will be presented with thousands of so-called “public” chargers at local car dealers. Once they arrive, however, the store’s customers, store hours, security gates, and Wild West pricing can turn what should be a routine charging stop into a frustrating ordeal. For first-time EV drivers, that doesn’t just reflect poorly on the dealer – it reflects poorly on the EV, itself. And we need to fix it. UPDATE 05SEP2026 : another Hyundai store, another $418 bill . more…
