ORLANDO, Fla. — Fall is in full swing across Central Florida this week, with afternoon temperatures hovering around 80 degrees and morning lows dipping into the 60s. After a weather system moved completely through the region on Monday, a strong north wind is bringing in cooler, drier continental air, giving Central Florida a taste of more comfortable fall weather. While the cooler air will make for pleasant conditions, breezy weather will be a big factor over the next several days. Wind gusts could reach 25 to 30 mph in the Orlando area, with gusts potentially reaching 40 mph along the coast. Winds are expected to gradually weaken over the next few days. Looking ahead, the next cold front is expected to move through Central Florida this weekend. Rain chances remain low, so widespread rainfall is not expected to be the main weather story. Instead, the biggest impact will be another push of cool, dry air arriving behind the front. Click here to download our free news, weather and smart TV apps. WEATHERPowerful surf along Zuma Beach in Malibu is washing away the shoreline, threatening Westward Beach Road and the popular Sunset Restaurant. KABCTuesday, October 20, 2026 2:29PMMALIBU, Calif. (KABC) -- Powerful surf continues to pound Malibu's coast, turning recent storm erosion into an immediate emergency as crews race to fortify the area. Churning waves south of Zuma Beach are washing away the shoreline, raising concerns that a portion of Westward Beach Road could fall into the ocean. The popular Sunset Restaurant, which sits along that road, is also being threatened. Crews are piling giant boulders along the coast to prevent high tide from causing more damage and keep the road from completely collapsing. "The sand is disappearing, definitely... And the ocean is, I mean these waves... I've never seen anything like this after growing up and going to Zuma all the time. I've never seen waves this big. It's crazy," said Sabrina Pender. The erosion has also exposed a water main in the area, prompting water service to be shutoff for the restaurant and some nearby homes. Top StoriesWestward Beach Road is now blocked off for repairs.

Zelensky speaks to Rubio after US support slowsWith further U. S. support for Ukraine in doubt as relations between Zelensky and Trump sour again, the Ukrainian leader said that he spoke with U. S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio, who is on a trip to Asia. That conversation came after Zelensky told a bipartisan group of U. S. lawmakers on Monday that he believes “some political decision has been made to slow down ... support for us.”Ukraine has nearly run out of American-made Patriot air defense interceptors that it needs to stop Russia’s ballistic missiles, according to Zelensky, who has pleaded for Washington to send more.
