Raptors try to ignore expectations ahead of season
TORONTO – Head coach Darko Rajakovic always bristles when asked about the expectations fans and media have for the Toronto Raptors this season. But even he can’t ignore the buzz around his team ahead of the 2026-27 campaign. “I have a neighbour, Stewart, he’s a pain in the ass every day asking me about the team and guys and the buzz in the city. He’s a really good thermometer for me on what’s going on in the city,” said Rajakovic on Tuesday after Raptors practice at OVO Athletic Centre. “We absolutely love what’s going on. It’s awesome to see that the city has a buzz about the team, that there’s excitement about the team. “Everybody’s looking forward to see what this team can do and how this team is going to perform. That’s why we put a lot of work in. That’s why we build this team so we can go out there and have a team that can answer the questions every single night.” Story continues below advertisement

Nearly $1 million worth of rare Pokémon and sports cards stolen from FedEx truck in Santa Ana
SANTA ANA, Calif. (KABC) -- Nearly $1 million in rare trading cards, including highly valued Pokémon cards, were stolen from a FedEx truck parked near an Orange County business that authenticates and grades the collectible items, according to police. The theft is the latest in a string of heists involving Pokémon cards, which have exponentially increased in value in recent years. The Santa Ana Police Department said in a statement on Tuesday that the heist occurred on Oct. 13 outside the Professional Sports Authenticator (PSA) office in Santa Ana. The hundreds of stolen cards are estimated to be worth a total of $963,000, according to police. "However, the exact value of the stolen items has not yet been determined," according to the Santa Ana police statement. The cards belong to collectors from across the country who submitted them to the PSA to be authenticated and graded. Two full pallets of collectible cards were stolen, and some cards on a third pallet were also swiped when thieves broke into a FedEx truck, according to police. "The pallets contained various trading cards, including, but not limited to, sports cards and Pokémon cards," according to the police statement.

New DOT airline rules could mean fewer accommodations for passengers when flights are disrupted
NEW YORK (WABC) -- A new Department of Transportation rule went into effect October 19, changing what airlines are deemed as disruptions within their control. This could mean fewer accommodations for passengers when flights are canceled or delayed. Most passengers know airlines don't owe you anything if something is out of an airline's control, like extreme weather or war affecting your flight. You used to be able to ask or sometimes fight for certain accommodations if the problem was something the airlines could have controlled, like mechanical problems with the plane. But that has now changed. Katy Nastro, travel expert with the app Flighty, says travelers should have the new rule of their radar before the holiday season. "Travelers may not be aware. But when we get into Thanksgiving, sort of the end of November into the end of December, a lot more people are going to be traveling, and there is a higher likelihood for more people to get disrupted because of the high volume," says Nastro. So get ready!
