Amid all the violence and cool cyborg technology, the first season of Cyberpunk: Edgerunners is a tragic love story at its core. But in the second season? It might be more punk-rock , following a new cast of characters around Night City, but according to showrunner Bartosz Sztybor, emotional themes of love and parenthood are the connective tissue between seasons. "Honestly, from my perspective, all the themes, emotions, and questions are almost the same as with season one," Sztybor said to GameSpot. "I really like to treat both seasons as connected, as mirrors of each other—two pieces of something bigger that have a constant dialogue with each other. It's still a tale about sacrifices and what you will do for love. In season one, we saw the relationship between David and his mother in the first episode, and how the things she told him shaped him. Even in the last episode, he mentions his mom. Season one had this parent-child relationship from the kid's point of view. In the second season, we also have a parent-child relationship, but from the parent's perspective. A lot of those things are connected, but the cast and the choices are different, so the outcomes may also be different.

Cyberpunk: Edgerunners Season 2 Is More Punk Rock Than Blockbuster

Cyberpunk: Edgerunners Season Two once again sees Studio Trigger handle animation duties, and this time, the anime powerhouse has gotten even wilder with its depiction of Night City and its residents. While the first season was bold in its visual direction, director Kai Ikarashi has pushed it even further, using more abstract shapes and experimental animation techniques to capture the look and feel of a cutting-edge dystopia. What does that lead to? A new season that showrunner Bartosz Sztybor calls a shift from Michael Bay-directed movies to Martin Scorsese-inspired (absolute) cinema. "I think the difference for me is—and I think I once made this reference—visually, the first season was very Michael Bay, while this second season is more like Martin Scorsese," Sztybor said to GameSpot. "He uses shapes and light differently. Even if the backgrounds are the same real places from the game, and Studio Trigger was sometimes using the same assets, the way he recreates them is different. It fits the vibe of the story, which is also very different. It's not this huge emotional thing, but rather something indie, more punkish, and more realistic. For example, the violence in season two feels

Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2 Casts Hideo Kojima to Reprise Game Role

Updated: Oct 19, 2026 5:35pm UTCCyberpunk: Edgerunners 2 has cast Metal Gear Solid creator Hideo Kojima in a role that will see him reprise his part from Cyberpunk 2077. Series game developer CD Projekt Red confirmed the news in a social media post on X/Twitter. The message teased that it's more than a throwaway part, too, as Kojima will be seen playing "the famous braindance director who was at Konpeki Plaza in Cyberpunk 2077" (via X's machine translation). The real-life game director was quick to respond and share his excitement, as well as a few pictures from his time recording his lines. His full statement, minus a few fun emojis, is as follows: "I make a cameo appearance in the anime series Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2 as Hideyoshi Oshima, the character who appeared in the previous game. Cyberpunk: Edgerunners II: The Kotaku Review

The first season of Cyberpunk: Edgerunners is filled with memorable moments that serve as the foundation to its story, moments that make the whole season feel like a kind of brutal, heartbreaking symphony in which every thread and refrain serves a purpose, all coming together in ways that make each element resonate with more power than it ever could on its own., It’s almost as ifStudio Trigger and CD Projekt Red knew they had to hit these incredible narrative highs and worked backwards from them, ensuring that every minute detail of its 10-episode run cleanly paved the way to its most memorable setpieces. I’m thinking of scenes like Edgerunners’ protagonist David Martinez watching his mentor Maine succumb to cyberpsychosis as Trigger depicts David’s immediate, gut-wrenching grief in the most visually disturbing way with a few seconds of detailed animation, as well as the final moments in which  netrunner Lucy, having dreamt of going to the moon for her entire life, finally makes it because of her lover’s actions. These only hit because Edgerunners uses every frame of animation to earn them.

GTA 6 is so detailed no single Rockstar employee knows it all - which is how we got shrinking horse testicles in Red Dead Redemption 2

Red Dead Redemption 2's infamous animated horse testicles, which are realistic enough to contract in cold weather and expand again in the warmth, were apparently not a feature mandated by Rockstar. As iconic as they've become - a symbol of extraordinary detail in the game - they didn't originate from a list of features that needed to be added to the game. The horse testicles were instead the unexpected work of one person, or a group of people, autonomously working on the Cowboy epic. Journalist Jason Schreier heard this anecdote from Rockstar head of development Aaron Garbut while visiting Rockstar North to write an expansive report for Bloomberg about the making of GTA 6. "Garbut actually brought this up," Schreier said in a video on YouTube. "[The horse testicles were] not something that was on some big list of features to make; it was not something that an art director told an artist, 'Alright, we've got to get those horse testicles in here - better put in nights and weekends so you can get these horse testicles in here.'
