WBUR chief executive Margaret Low to retire in June

Margaret Low, chief executive of the Boston NPR news station WBUR, announced Tuesday that she will step down from the role in June. Low, 67, told employees Tuesday morning that this is her last “big job,” but she will join WBUR’s board of directors next fall and continue to serve on numerous journalism-related boards. WBUR has tapped a search firm to hire her successor, Low said. In nearly seven years at WBUR, Low has steered the station through layoffs, financial cuts, and the federal defunding of public media, while building up fundraising and growing the organization’s events business — most notably with the annual WBUR Festival that began last year. WBUR is ranked the top radio station in Boston, according to Nielsen ratings. “We have faced down so many gigantic challenges. WBUR is soaring,” Low said in an interview.

Zach Collaros didn’t expect Winnipeg Blue Bombers to face must-win game - 3DownNation

Photo: Samantha Keen/3DownNation. All rights reserved. The Winnipeg Blue Bombers have to win against the B. C. Lions this week to make the playoffs, which isn’t the scenario franchise quarterback Zach Collaros envisioned when the season began. “I didn’t think we’d be in a situation like this, but we are,” Collaros told the media on Monday. “You’ve gotta treat it like it’s an extension of the playoffs — you lose, and you’re out — but I wasn’t expecting this.”

Designers’ notes: creating the new Tomb Kings of Khemri miniatures - Warhammer Community

Keith: Much of the original Tomb Kings range was made a long time ago, using very different technology to what we have today. The original Skeleton Warriors, for example, combined the basic Warhammer skeletons of the time with a Tomb Kings upgrade sprue. This worked very well, but when we knew we were going to revisit the range, we wanted to really lean into the unique look of the faction established in the incredible art created for the old Warhammer Fantasy Battle army books. Ethan: We were all familiar with the Tomb Kings armies, not only from the miniatures, but also from the classic art, of which there was a lot, and all done by some very talented artists. They really captured the look and feel of the undead armies of Nehekhara, bringing them to life on the page in a way Nagash himself would surely be envious of! Much like the recent Royal Heralds and Liche Priests kits, we wanted to update the classic models and capture the true character of the Tomb Kings. Dan: We were also mindful that Tomb Kings of Khemri armies can include lots of models, with units like Skeleton Warriors and Skeleton Archers, for example, often being fairly large.

I Just Learned What The First Chimp In Space Did While He Was Up There, And What Was Up His Rectum

My friend and longtime collaborator Carrie McLaren, who I’ve been working with since the ’90s ‘zine boom, has a new physical ‘zine she’s writing and publishing called Ape Shit, which focuses on, you know, monkeys and apes and non-human primates, and how we humans interact with them. It’s interesting stuff, and I’m excited to help out with the next issue by writing about Ham, the first chimpanzee in space. I actually met Ham when I was a kid, at the Asheboro Zoo in North Carolina. I think he’s the only astronaut I’ve actually met? Definitely the most hirsute.

Polestar tries to quantify what it’s like to drive a performance car

Drivers had electrodes strapped to their heads as they tested EVs on track. The human desire to go fast is old, dating back at least as far as the first time some adventurous Yamnaya saw a horse on the Pontic-Caspian steppe and thought, “I bet if I jumped on that thing’s back, it would be faster than walking.”
