Health disparities affect Indigenous people across Canada. As the country marks the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation this week, a need exists to reiterate that First Nations, Inuit and Métis people must be partners in health research decisions that affect their lives.
A House of Commons committee recently recommended removing all references to equity, diversity and inclusion (EDI) in the process for awarding federal research funding.
Project will enable more Canadian natural gas to meet growing global LNG demandCALGARY, Alberta, Sept. 29, 2026 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- TC Energy Corporation (TSX, NYSE: TRP) today announced Coastal GasLink (CGL) Phase 2 will proceed following LNG Canada and its joint venture participants’ positive Final Investment Decision (FID) on the expansion of the LNG Canada facility, satisfying the conditions associated with TC Energy’s previously approved conditional FID for the project. Today, the CGL pipeline safely transports approximately 2.1 Bcf/d of natural gas. CGL Phase 2 will nearly double the existing capacity by adding new compressor stations and upgrading facilities along the existing 670-kilometre route from Dawson Creek to the LNG Canada liquefaction facility in Kitimat, northern British Columbia. “Coastal GasLink pipeline was a nation-building project that established Canada’s first direct path for natural gas to reach global LNG markets and Phase 2 is building on that legacy.
As a wave of injuries sidelines key stars, Mike Babcock challenges his roster to step up and claim permanent roles before the puck drops on opening night. The Edmonton Oilers started camp with one known injury: Frederik Andersen. Early on they lost Matt Savoie because of an off-ice issue. Not long after, Jason Dickinson was hurt in practice. Then, Ryan Nugent-Hopkins suffered an ankle injury on Tuesday. Needless to say, it's not been a run of good look for the Oilers as the regular season kicks off on Tuesday night. That said, head coach Mike Babcock isn't looking at these injuries as a tough pill to swallow. While it is, he more sees this as an opportunity for others. When asked if the injuries hampered his gameplan, Babcock said, "You can look at it that way or say it's an opportunity for other people. " He added, "I'm just going to watch and they're going to decide. We might find a penalty killer, we might find a power play guy. That's what happens when these things go on. You think you don't have somebody and then suddenly you got somebody that you didn't even know you had. " He said, "Here we are, we're preparing for the game tonight. We're going to play hard.

Over the past two decades, the sale of dietary supplements has taken off. Today, it seems as though there's a pill for practically any ailment you can think of. While the benefits might seem hopeful, there's reason to tread cautiously. Some supplements can be costly and offer little to no benefits. Others may have unexpected downsides. A new study underlines the potential for harm. The preliminary analysis, published in Nature Metabolism, finds initial evidence that a popular supplement, taken by more than 40 million Americans, is associated with faster progression to dementia in people with early memory problems. Glucosamine is a natural sugar-related molecule widely sold over the counter as a supplement in the US. It is especially popular among older adults, who use it to support joint health and manage arthritis symptoms or joint discomfort. But it may have an insidious downside for a certain subset of older adults. Using electronic health record data, researchers at the University of Florida (UF) have now found that glucosamine use was associated with a 25 percent higher likelihood that mild cognitive impairment would progress to dementia.

Deploying the latest frontier models is no longer enough: AI leadership results from developing an architecture that enables AI to deliver against expectations.
AI has sped up coding, but that has shifted bottlenecks to review, governance, and software delivery.

Documentaries about current and former professional athletes these days run into a lot of pitfalls over and over again. That’s especially true when the athlete himself is credited as one of the film’s executive producers. These films often function as self-congratulatory celebrations of the athlete, which either omit the negative aspects of their story or seek to do PR-style damage control for those things. Even if they don’t do that, the point of most of these documentaries is little more than “that athlete you thought was awesome? He’s really awesome!”But a new sports documentary, Go Deep: The DeSean Jackson Story, is something very different. It has a unique structure; it finds the heart of its story and is refreshingly honest and warts-and-all about its subject. I attended the film’s premiere in New York last week, the day before it debuted on Prime Video. The story of the wide receiver who emerged from California to play 15 years in the NFL, Go Deep easily goes down as one of the best sports documentaries of 2026.

Are you ready for Verity? Adapted from Colleen Hoover's bestselling novel of the same name, the film tells the story of Lowen Ashleigh (Dakota Johnson), a struggling, stagnant author who receives the offer of a lifetime following a chance encounter with a charming stranger. Jeremy Crawford (Josh Hartnett) proposes that Lowen ghostwrite the final book in his wife, author Verity Crawford's (Anne Hathaway) acclaimed series, for a large sum of money, after an accident leaves Verity in a vegetative state. Lowen reluctantly agrees — but the arrangement soon unravels into something far darker. After unearthing a manuscript Verity had hidden away, Lowen begins to wonder whether the well-respected author is actually responsible for a horrific crime. "It's such a theatrical story. It's incredibly cinematic. It's so thrilling, it's super sexy," Johnson said in an interview with Hollywood+. "It's really like a fun movie to go to the movie theater to see. "Hathaway added, "I think this is a movie that was designed to thrill audiences, made by people who really, really love making movies. I hope people scream, I hope that people, like, dress up.
