Documentaries about current and former professional athletes these days run into a lot of pitfalls over and over again. That’s especially true when the athlete himself is credited as one of the film’s executive producers. These films often function as self-congratulatory celebrations of the athlete, which either omit the negative aspects of their story or seek to do PR-style damage control for those things. Even if they don’t do that, the point of most of these documentaries is little more than “that athlete you thought was awesome? He’s really awesome!”But a new sports documentary, Go Deep: The DeSean Jackson Story, is something very different. It has a unique structure; it finds the heart of its story and is refreshingly honest and warts-and-all about its subject. I attended the film’s premiere in New York last week, the day before it debuted on Prime Video. The story of the wide receiver who emerged from California to play 15 years in the NFL, Go Deep easily goes down as one of the best sports documentaries of 2026.

Daniel Dubois destroys Fabio Wardley via 2nd-round knockout in highly anticipated rematch - MMA Fighting
Daniel Dubois made sure there was little room for drama in his second fight with Fabio Wardley. It took Dubois less than two rounds to score a definitive knockout victory over Wardley on Saturday in London, five months after their epic first encounter that ended with Dubois winning a war of attrition in which Dubois had to battle back from adversity after being knocked down twice. It took Dubois until the 11th round to turn things around and win their first fight, but this time Dubois beat Wardley to the punch and he never recovered. The rematch was officially stopped at the 2:21 mark of Round 2 after Wardley’s corner threw in the towel. With the win, Dubois successfully defended the WBO heavyweight title he won from Wardley, and improved his pro record to 24-3 with 23 victories by KO/TKO. In his post-fight interview, Dubois praised Wardley, calling him “a great warrior,” before adding, “it is my time and my era.”There’s no question this was Dubois’ night as he pounced on Wardley early, landing a jab and then following with a heavy right hand that took Wardley’s legs out from under him.
