Description

About 75 per cent of eligible voters in Alberta voted for their province to stay in Canada in a historic referendum. Heather Yourex-West looks at the reaction from federalists and separatists, as well as how Albertans cast their ballots in the referendum's other questions. As the Canadian Armed Forces investigates the fire that killed four soldiers and injured dozens more during a training exercise at CFB Wainwright, there are growing signs that warnings about an incoming windstorm were ignored. As Jeff Semple reports, calls are amplifying for a public inquiry. France is imposing nightly curfews in response to increasingly violent protests across the country. Redmond Shannon reports on how the demonstrations initially started, who's being blamed for the movement growing out of control and the aftermath of the riots. Plus, even though most Albertans have voted in favour of their province staying in Canada, another separation referendum is always possible. Eric Sorensen looks at how push for sovereignty in Alberta has been managed compared to other parts of the world.
