Description
Fresh clashes erupted between French riot police and young people in Paris's Place de la Republique, a day after a protest over the cost of living turned violent. Students described fear and injuries during the unrest, while a burnt-out car has become a memorial for demonstrators who say the government is ignoring their grievances. Similar scenes unfolded in Marseille and Limoges, where the 19th-century city hall roof was damaged by fire, prompting the mayor to demand stronger government action. President Emmanuel Macron faces mounting pressure as anger grows nationwide. Al Jazeera’s Natacha Butler reports from Paris, France.
