Asus is announcing the ExpertBook A7: a 14-inch laptop with a 120Hz OLED display and an Intel Core 5 320 chip. It’s available today, starting at $1,299.99 with 16GB of RAM and 512GB of storage. But coming in the new year is an 8GB / 256GB version for a more affordable $899. 8GB felt workable in the XPS 13, and it didn’t have a fancy OLED, but it cost $200 less. The Alexa Tablet 12 Pro is almost the Android tablet we needed - The Verge

We have to talk about this screen. It’s the first thing you notice, and maybe the only thing that matters, about the Alexa Tablet 12 Pro. It’s a 12-inch, 2800 x 1840 panel with a new technology Amazon calls “Nanomatte” that is meant to decrease glare and increase the feeling that you can reach out and touch the things you see onscreen. When Amazon set out to build the best tablet the company has ever shipped, it started with this screen. The $549.99 device I’ve been testing is one of four new models in the Alexa Tablet lineup, which ranges from a $229.99 8-inch model up to a $679.99 12 Pro with this Nanomatte coating and some extra RAM you don’t really need. The pitch for all those devices is the same: They’re well-made, midrange tablets that can access the full universe of Android apps through the Play Store and come with a whole bunch of Amazon bloatware whether you want it or not. I haven’t tested those other devices, but I’m glad they exist — cheap, good Android tablets are too hard to come by.6Verge Score$550The GoodScreen is gorgeousAndroid apps! Inspired by the compound eyes of dragonflies, the installation explores how different perspectives can coexist within a single structure. Each cell contains a glass double-convex lens, with its proportions and focal length determined by optical calculations. The pavilion combines concave and convex surfaces to direct views outward and inward, referencing the arrangement of a dragonfly’s ommatidia, which are oriented to observe different parts of its surroundings.

Barlow’s Research Roundup: RBC downgrades technology sector - The Globe and Mail

Daily roundup of research and analysis from The Globe and Mail’s market strategist Scott BarlowRate sensitive stocksScotiabank strategist Hugo Ste-Marie warned clients not to buy domestic interest rate sensitive (mostly dividend-paying) dividend sectors if bond yields pause their trend higher,“Everyone has been trying to call the peak in bond yields since US 10s started to accelerate above the 5-per-cent mark three weeks ago. The sharp rise call options volume traded on the TLT ETF since late September points to rising interest in such a bet with most of the surge occurring over the past few weeks (we use a rolling 5-d moving average). ...
