First responders help us through some of our worst moments, but what happens when they’re the ones needing help?
A first-of-its-kind symposium was held in Hamilton Wednesday, which brought first responders together to discuss the job’s impact on mental health and ways to better support workers.
If you had decided in October 2025 that the excitement around digitization and AI in Canadian healthcare felt too optimistic for WELL Health Technologies and chosen to skip the shares, the outcome might look different now. Holding WELL Health Technologies over the past year would have meant a 29.0% loss, including dividends. With upbeat analyst targets on record back then and strong recent headlines on clinic growth and guidance, which early assumptions about acquisitions, margins, or concentration in Canada would you have challenged most? On Simply Wall St, a Narrative is an investor's thesis written down: the reasoning, plus the numbers it rests on. Run those numbers and you get an estimated Fair Value. The move put WELL Health Technologies in the middle of this trade. Scan 5 healthcare AI stocks for other companies exposed to it. The Argument Investors Had To Settle On WELL Health Technologies The shares cost CA$5.6 at the start of the period, and you were weighing two very different stories about where WELL Health Technologies might go next. The bullish Narrative put Fair Value at CA$7.65.
Many survivors of gynecologic cancer experience treatment-related changes that affect sexual health, yet these concerns are not consistently addressed during oncology visits, according to a qualitative study published in Supportive Care in Cancer. Researchers found that clinicians frequently encountered barriers including limited time, discomfort with the topic, age-related assumptions, and uncertainty about professional roles. The results point to practical strategies that could help oncology nurses and other members of the cancer care team incorporate sexual health assessment more routinely into survivorship care. Researchers interviewed 21 gynecologic oncology clinicians, including gynecologic oncologists, nurse practitioners, and physician assistants. Sexual Health Discussions Often Occur in Survivorship CareParticipants described considerable variation in when and how sexual health concerns were addressed. Conversations were more likely to occur during postoperative, surveillance, or survivorship visits than during active treatment, when discussions about prognosis, treatment decisions, and symptom management often took priority.
ROME, 8 October 2026 – Ahead of World Mental Health Day, the UNICEF-led Global Youth Mental Health Coalition today launched Turn Down the Noise, its first global campaign, and announced Movember as its newest member. “Young people told us plainly what gets in the way of connection, and then they helped us build the response,” said UNICEF Deputy Executive Director, Kitty van der Heijden. “The Coalition’s goal is to reach 150 million children and young people in 150 countries by 2030, with programmes and resources that will help improve their mental health and wellbeing. Campaigns like this one, built with young people and backed by bold partners willing to act are how we get there.”The campaign explores a paradox facing young people today: unprecedented digital connectivity alongside widespread experiences of loneliness and disconnection. Young people, including those referred to as Gen Z, are the most digitally connected generation in history, yet young people report the highest rates of loneliness of any age group. The campaign focuses on social connection as a protective factor for youth mental health, and zooms in on the barriers to connection that young people face.
There is little medical value in measuring your HRV or generating a readiness score.
A staff member holds the Apple Watch Series 12 at the Apple Fifth Ave. store in New York. Those with enough disposable income to afford it will now get a new "readiness score" — how ready your body is for physical activity, on a scale of 0 to 10, notes Dr. Christopher Labos. (TIMOTHY A. On October 6, the Immigrant Workers Centre (IWC-CTI) took part in a rally outside the offices of the CNESST at Complexe Desjardins in Montreal, marking five years since Quebec’s occupational health and safety reform came into force. The mobilization brought together members of the CSD, CSN, CSQ, FTQ and UTTAM, along with organizations defending workers’ rights. Their message was clear: the review of the 2021 reform must not be reduced to a purely administrative exercise. It should be used to address setbacks in the application of the previous law and to strengthen workers’ rights to prevention, compensation, and recognition of workplace injuries and occupational illnesses. The mobilization comes as the new government is expected to review the reform this fall. The law requires the Minister of Labour to present a report on how it has been implemented and whether its provisions should be maintained or amended. For the Immigrant Workers Centre, this issue is especially important for non-unionized, migrant and temporary workers, many of whom work in warehouses, factories, cleaning, restaurants and other sectors where injuries and difficult working conditions are common.

PAHO/WHO and the Ministry of Health are conducting operational research at five health facilities to evaluate the integration of rapid diagnostic tests into health services. Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, 7 October 2026 (PAHO) – The Pan American Health Organization/World Health Organization (PAHO/WHO), in coordination with the Ministry of Health and with support from Unitaid, is conducting operational research to strengthen the timely detection of tuberculosis, cryptococcosis, and histoplasmosis among people with advanced HIV disease (AHD). The study evaluates the use of rapid point-of-care diagnostic tests to bring diagnostic services closer to people and support timely clinical decision-making. These tools are particularly important for individuals who seek care with severely weakened immune systems, a condition in which opportunistic infections can progress rapidly and increase the risk of complications and death. The study is being implemented at five health facilities: Centro Sanitario Santo Domingo, Hospital Salvador B. Gautier, Hospital Juan Pablo Pina, Hospital Regional Universitario José María Cabral y Báez, and Hospital Infantil Robert Reid Cabral.
