State of the World’s Girls 2026: Change her forecast - Plan International

Climate disasters are increasingly recognised as a crisis for girls’ health, safety and futures. Floods, droughts and extreme heat can disrupt healthcare, education and protection systems when communities need them most. These disruptions place additional pressure on families and communities, making girls and young women more vulnerable to violence, child marriage and unintended pregnancy while limiting their opportunities and choices. Plan International’s flagship annual report on the State of the World’s Girls in 2026, draws on the experiences of more than 5,000 girls and young women aged 15-24 across Bangladesh, Kenya, Peru, Senegal and Zimbabwe, alongside analysis spanning 52 countries over 3 decades. The report highlights how climate-related shocks affect girls’ health, rights and futures, and what must change to better protect them.

For more than three decades, Hamilton’s Gandhi peace festival has brought people together around the Indian independence leader’s philosophy of non-violence. This year, the festival looked at what those ideas mean in a changing world, including one increasingly shaped by artificial intelligence. How the World’s Fastest Runners Shaped Nike Apex — and the Brand’s Next Racing Shoes - About Nike

October 04, 2026Words: Images: A summer sun is coming up over the Rift Valley as the runners begin to gather. In Eldoret, Kenya, on the roads and trails that have carried generations of world-class runners over clay, grass, rock and pavement, a group of nine athletes laces up for an early-morning session at the Lornah Kiplagat Sports Academy. By the time morning light reaches the track, the work is already underway. Huddled at the edge of the track is a team of Nike Running experts closely watching the athletes, who include some of sport’s top runners. Among them: Jacob Kiplimo, a half-marathon world-record breaker and Brigid Kosgei, an Olympian and marathon world-record setter. During the next few days in late July, these athletes — along with Eliud Kipchoge, the first man to run a sub 2-hour marathon distance, and Faith Kipyegon, the world’s fastest woman miler — will run in shoes the rest of the world hasn’t yet seen, testing prototypes; comparing them with previous versions; and sharing feedback with product, sports marketing and performance specialists who have traveled thousands of miles to hear what they have to say.

Padres’ Ty France just relived a Blue Jays World Series nightmare in Milwaukee - Jays Journal

Ty France might be one of the unluckiest players over the past two postseasons. During Game One of his San Diego Padres NLDS matchup in Milwaukee, the slugging first baseman was at the plate in a crucial situation. With one on and one out in the top of the ninth and the Padres trailing the Brewers 3-2, France stepped up to the plate and blasted a ball that should have put the Padres ahead. Everyone in that stadium thought the ball was gone - but Milwaukee's American Family Field had other ideas. Ty France is robbed of a potential go-ahead homer as the ball hits the roof and drops back into play 🤯 pic.twitter.com/UkWjHytIEb— Sportsnet (@Sportsnet) October 4, 2026The ball left the bat at 105.3 mph and was headed towards the stands, but it hit the roof and came down into left fielder Jackson Chourio's glove. The umpiring crew came together and ruled that it was indeed an out. “I haven’t really been able to fully process it,” France told reporters after the game. “But it was a game-changing swing. I guess the biggest question was whether it was going to stay fair or foul. I thought I backspun it and thought it was going to stay fair.
