We Analyze the Fastest Shoes at the 2026 Ironman World Championship - Triathlete

Updated October 13, 2026 01:52PMHow We Reported This: Triathlete’s Abby Levene was on the ground in Kona reporting on the 2026 Ironman World Championship, documenting the shoes on the feet of the top 10 men and women. Together with Outside’s Senior Gear Editor Jonathon Beverly, they tapped into their knowledge from testing 20-plus pairs of super shoes currently on the market to provide analysis of the athletes’ choices. The 2026 Ironman World Championship proved, once again, that this event may just be the toughest endurance feat on Earth. A choppy swim and a windy bike gave way to a hot and especially humid run with blow-ups and meltdowns not even Hollywood would dare to script. Watching the top contenders run down Ali’i in the early stages of the marathon, one thing that struck our team on the ground in Kona was just how unique the running shoe demands are in these conditions.

Matt Richardson: British Cycling withdraw Olympic medallist from squad for World Track Cycling Championships - BBC

Matt Richardson has been withdrawn from the Great Britain squad for this week's World Track Cycling Championships in Shanghai amid reports he is under investigation for misconduct. British Cycling confirmed the 27-year-old Olympic medallist's removal in a statement but did not give a reason. When approached by BBC Sport, British Cycling declined to comment on allegations first reported by The Times, external it was because of a misconduct investigation. Last Wednesday, Richardson was named in the British squad for the championships, which run from 14-18 October. He had been expected to contend for three medals in the team sprint, individual sprint and keirin. Richardson switched allegiance from Australia to Britain after the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, where he won two silver medals and a bronze. He was also forced to miss his anticipated England debut at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow in July after crashing during a keirin event in Japan. BBC Sport has approached Richardson's representatives for comment.

DP World Tour bans LIV Golf players for 2027, ending their Ryder Cup eligibility - GOLF.com

Tyrrell Hatton's Ryder Cup eligibility will be doomed if he chooses to play on LIV 2.0 Whatever becomes of LIV Golf 2.0, the DP World Tour has decided it won’t let those who compete in the rebel circuit’s new version have it both ways. In a statement to BBC Sport, DP World Tour CEO Guy Kinnings said the European circuit, which had previously reached agreements with LIV players to allow them into its tournaments, will no longer do so in 2027, effectively banning them from playing. “Players need to make a choice,” Kinnings told BBC Sport. “We have rules and regulations which are there to protect our tour and which our members must all abide by. Players who are not willing to comply with our rules and regulations should not be seeking to join our tour.”The DP World Tour had reached agreements that included granting conditional releases to LIV players in part to allow players like Jon Rahm and Tyrrell Hatton to maintain their Ryder Cup eligibility. The DP World Tour oversees the European team, like the PGA of America oversees the American side.
