I was 16 when I started reselling online. A few months later, my garage was a warehouse and I was making $25,000 a month. - Business Insider

This as-told-to essay is based on a conversation with Ethan Alexander. It has been edited for length and clarity. Each year, I get a $500 gift from an investment account that my great-grandfather set up for all of his great-grandkids. My gramps — Jack Davis — owned his own company and left a legacy of entrepreneurship in our family. I get the money on his birthday, May 9th. In 2025, my sophomore year of high school, I came across a video on Instagram about making a profit by reselling items online shortly after I received Gramp's gift. I had stopped playing lacrosse, my typical spring sport, and I was looking for something to fill my time. I used the $500 to pay someone to teach me how to resell. I didn't do much research, just thought "what's the worst that can happen? " The business took off immediately, and I generated just under $10,000 in revenue that first month. In August, I did more than $25,000 in revenue. I resold lots of goods at a relatively small profitSuccess reselling on Amazon comes from volume. I would find a product where I could make a relatively small profit margin — about $2 to $4 — and sell lots of it.

The Sticky Business of Loving Cinéma L’Amour: Inside Montreal’s Historic Porn Theater - Yahoo

How do you recommend a porn theater? Steve Koltai, owner of Montreal's historic Cinéma L'Amour, might start by telling you to watch it on your phone. "You want to watch the newest movie out there? Watch it on your cell phone. That's not my business anymore," he told IndieWire. "My business is giving you social interaction, fulfilling a fantasy. "That makes suggesting Koltai's establishment for a movie outing a bit more complicated than your typical midnight flick. Pitch a little trip to Cinéma L'Amour, and there's instantly a question of intent. Are you appreciating its crimson interior and risky atmosphere from afar — or suggesting an immersive experience that warrants more discussion with a… partner? (Priest?) Hell, even an overeager endorsement of its gift shop can invite some very private questions around the city. "I'd say a majority of the people that buy our merchandise have never been here," a Cinéma L'Amour tour guide told IndieWire this past summer, amid the 30th annual Fantasia International Film Festival. "But they love the fashion part. " Dakota Johnson has been photographed rocking the porn theater's merchandise.

Amazon hires Microsoft's former Copilot CTO - Business Insider

Amazon hired former Microsoft Copilot CTO Pedram Rezaei to help the e-commerce and cloud giant build out its agentic AI business. Rezaei joined AWS as a distinguished engineer in its Agentic AI and Emerging Technologies group, according to an email announcement on Monday. He spent two decades at Microsoft, most recently training foundation models on the company's Superintelligence team. Rezaei served as Copilot's CTO until June and previously held senior technical roles in key product areas including search engine Bing and business software suite Dynamics 365. At Amazon, Rezaei will initially work on Quick and Kiro, two products Amazon sees as central to its AI agent strategy, according to the email by Swami Sivasubramanian, the company's VP of agentic AI. An Amazon spokesperson shared the memo with Business Insider. Quick is AWS's AI assistant and productivity app, while Kiro is an AI-powered coding tool. Quick's monthly AI users grew fourfold from the first to second quarter, while Kiro's user base doubled over the same period, Sivasubramanian noted in the email.

In Photos: British Airways Unveils All-New Airbus A380 Interior With World’s Largest Business Class Cabin - Simple Flying

Jack comes to Simple Flying with a lifelong interest in all things aviation. He holds a degree in Aerospace Engineering from Georgia Tech, and is a certified private and remote pilot. Beyond these experiences, Jack previously worked for a corporate flight department where he gained first-hand experience in the world of business aviation. Currently, Jack works in the professional services industry and continues to build his flight hours outside of work. British Airways has revealed the completed interior design for its refurbished Airbus A380, giving the superjumbo the largest business class cabin currently found on a commercial aircraft. The fleet is being transformed from nose to tail, with 106 Club Suites occupying the entire upper deck, alongside new First, World Traveller Plus, and World Traveller cabins on the main deck. British Airways says more than 35,000 individual parts will be installed on each aircraft as part of the extensive refurbishment. The redesign represents a substantial change in how British Airways intends to use the A380: it will reduce overall capacity while allocating considerably more space to premium cabins.

Budding food scrap businesses want your coffee grounds and eggshells - Los Angeles Times

Every Monday, Ricky Blanding drives his Ford Ranger pickup truck around Detroit along a carefully planned route. Blanding hops in and out of the truck, grabbing buckets of food scraps from porches and restaurants, piling those scraps into bins in the truck bed and driving them to a composting site. Blanding is the CEO of Scrap Soils, one of the many budding food waste collection services across the country helping to divert food from landfills and make composting more accessible. It’s especially important for those who can’t compost at home, who live in cities without municipal curbside pickup or who can’t get to a drop-off location. Composting leftover coffee grounds, eggshells, carrot tops and more reduces the amount of food that goes into dumps where it produces the potent greenhouse gas methane. It also ultimately helps create healthy soil for gardeners and urban farmers. Experts say companies like Scrap Soils are an important part of cleaning up the broader food ecosystem.
