Lectric launches lighter, lower-cost version of its bestselling urban e-bike: Lectric XPress Lite

Lectric eBikes has spent the last several years steadily expanding from its original folding fat-tire e-bikes into just about every corner of the affordable electric bicycle market. Now the company is returning its attention to the commuter category with the new Lectric XPress Lite, a lighter and more affordable version of its popular XPress2 urban e-bike. Priced at $1,099, the XPress Lite takes the general formula of the more powerful XPress2 and pares it down into a lighter, more nimble package aimed squarely at everyday city riders. Lectric describes the new model as prioritizing portability and agility rather than the heavier-duty performance of the XPress2.

Tesla ordered to pay $162,000 for Model X fire after failed ‘vandalism’ defense

Tesla told a Quebec court that car fires are “generally” caused by misuse or vandalism. The judge didn’t buy it, and Tesla Canada now has to cover the C$161,700 an insurer paid out for a Model X that burned in Montreal. An expert report traced the fire to an electrical failure in the dashboard of the 2020 Model X, which was still under Tesla’s warranty. Tesla offered no data to support its theory, and the court called it out for that.

No single person has spent more money to harm EVs than Tesla CEO Elon Musk

Tesla CEO Elon Musk has spent over half a billion dollars on anti-EV political campaigns so far, with $276 million spent in just the last 3 months. Even Tesla acknowledges that these campaigns have harmed its business, costing it billions, and has taken the extraordinary measure of asking its CEO to stop – yet he’s only accelerated his anti-EV influence in response.

F1 in Singapore: There's a new fastest car now

Also, F1’s final sprint saw our first real wet racing of the year. Formula 1’s lengthy 2026 season is entering its final stretch. The sport took to the floodlit streets of Singapore on Sunday night, but Saturday saw action, too; this Grand Prix weekend was also the final of six sprints this year. The night race might be one of modern F1’s greatest spectacles. From overhead shots, the track becomes a bright, illuminated ribbon among the looming darkness of the city-state’s overpasses and skyscrapers. At ground level, the cars shower glittering sparks from their titanium skid blocks as the drivers flirt with how close they can get to the walls. As tracks go, the 90-degree turns and concrete barrier-lined streets were a world away from the abrasive tarmac and ample runoff of Malaysia last time out. But the tropical heat and humidity were a constant given both locations’ proximity to the equator.

French electric marine motor manufacturer TEMO is bringing its latest electric propulsion system to North America, offering sailboat owners an interesting middle ground between a conventional outboard and a permanently installed pod drive. It’s been nearly two years since we last checked in on the French e-boat motor maker, but it appears they’ve used that time well to make several new advancements, chief among them the TEMO OUTPOD system.

NHTSA weighs probe into claims Tesla Robotaxis speed in school zones

A new defect petition accuses Tesla’s Robotaxis of speeding through active school zones, and NHTSA has opened a file to decide whether to investigate. It’s the third federal action aimed at Tesla’s driverless fleet in about five weeks, after an audit query and a Special Order over how the Cybercab was certified.

Electric work trucks are earning their keep at one of Canada’s busiest container terminals, where Peterbilt’s battery-powered box vans are keeping cargo moving without the air pollution of diesel and propane. We’re thrilled to congratulate our partners at GCT for winning the BC Hydro Luminaries Project of the Year,” reads the official Peterbilt copy. “Seeing our Peterbilt 520EV fuel tankers and 220EV lubrication trucks powering the largest fleet rollout of any terminal in Canada is a true testament to the hard work of everyone involved.”

Autonomous military 6×6 packs electric drive and go-anywhere grit [video]

The Hunter WOLF military robot is one of six private-sector projects chosen for US Army’s Infantry Last Tactical Mile (ILTM) initiative – an advanced research initiative designed to modernize infantry support for soldiers on the battlefield. If you’re a fan of remote trail-busting, the spec sheet on the BLADE Hunter WOLF reads like a money-no-object wish list. Precise, 6×6 electric drive, run-flat airless Tweels, and a cg that lets the military ATV climb 60% grades and traverse 40% slide slopes. If there’s a complaint to be had, it’s that no one will ever get to drive the thing. Because it drives itself.

This electric motorcycle company just hit 10 million battery swaps – and it’s profitable

Brazilian electric motorcycle and battery-swapping company Vammo is hitting several major milestones as it prepares to take its model beyond its home of São Paulo, including reaching EBITDA profitability, surpassing 10 million battery swaps, and growing to more than 10,000 active riders. Vammo has operated in São Paulo since 2022, building out a network that now includes roughly 1,000 battery-swapping points. Riders use the company’s electric motorcycles and can pull into a swapping location to exchange depleted batteries for charged packs rather than waiting around to plug in.
