The recall is related to a seat adjustment switch
Take just a moment and think about all of the switchgear in your car. If one had to make a list of the top 10 knobs or buttons that might set off a fire, the power-adjustable seat likely would not make the cut. But, owners of almost 95,000 Genesis sedans are now subject to a new recall for exactly that. The brand says that a certain damaged switch can leave the motor running and, in some cases, start a fire.
Europe’s EV sales just posted a record September, as global market growth shifts toward Europe and beyond its largest established markets.
Almost 600,000 EVs were sold in Europe in September, up 39% year over year, according to new data from Benchmark Mineral Intelligence. Globally, sales reached 2.15 million, up 17% from August but down 2% from September 2025.
Larte Design specializes in over-the-top carbon-fiber body kits, and there’s one for the Cadillac Escalade-V Caddy’s biggest gas-fed SUV looks pretty restrained from the factory, but what about with a Larte body kit? Not so much. Since it's a purely cosmetic twist, Cadillac’s factory warranty is preserved. Cadillac lightly facelifted the Escalade for the 2025 model year, showing particular restraint with the top-flight V variant. Despite packing a supercharged 6.2-liter V-8 with 682 horsepower under the hood, the V basically looks identical to more modestly powered Escalades. It’s perhaps taking a page from the full-size Range Rover playbook, where big power is not something you necessarily advertise. However, there are always going to be customers who bought the most powerful Escalade partially because they wanted everyone to notice. For these individuals, may we present the Larte Design Esthete body kit for the Escalade-V, offering a more visually striking take on the top-of-the-line Caddy SUV. Emphasis on striking, as looking at these pictures feels a bit like getting punched in the face.
Obrist, the Austrian engineering firm famous for ripping battery cells out of a Tesla Model 3 and bolting a gas engine into the frunk, is bankrupt. Three companies in the Obrist Group are insolvent with combined debts of about €31.8 million, or roughly $37 million.
The company spent over a decade pitching its “HyperHybrid” range extender as the smarter alternative to battery-electric cars. It never got a single production vehicle out of it.
PorscheCheck your notifications to make sure the world isn’t ending, because Porsche has confirmed that it is developing a permanent supercar line above the 911. PorscheThe new model doesn’t have a name yet, but Porsche is giving us an idea of what it could look like through the new Mission S concept car. Advertisement - Continue Reading BelowPorscheThe Mission S is littered with inspiration from previous Porsche models, including the rear cooling fan reminiscent of the Porsche 917. PorscheSeveral aspects of the Mission S pay homage to the 911 GT1, including the car-in-a-car look at the rear. PorscheThe interior is meant to be a blend of analog controls and modern screens, though Porsche went out of its way to avoid adding a central display. That rectangular screen you see is a mounted smartphone. Advertisement - Continue Reading BelowPorscheThe rest of the interior is designed purely with driving in mind.
The Porsche Mission S is not the successor to the 918 Spyder or Carrera GT. First of all, it’s technically a concept car, although even Porsche isn’t pretending it’s anything but a preview of a showroom-bound model. But more to the point, the 918 Spyder and Carrera GT were hypercars of their day, even if the term wasn’t in widespread use when the latter was new. The Mission S—or rather, whatever it turns into—is a supercar, in the current sense of the word. It is not here to fulfill prophecies of a new Holy Trinity alongside the Ferrari F80 and McLaren W1 as a limited-run special; it’s here to battle the likes of the Ferrari 296 and 849 Testarossa and whatever follows the McLaren 750S. Just ask the big boss himself. “The Mission S represents a mid-engined super sports car platform positioned above the 911—not as a one-off hypercar, but as a permanent and versatile addition to our customer offering,” Porsche CEO and chairman of the executive board Dr. Michael Leiters said in a statement.
HomePorscheMission SPorscheMSRP$500,000 estBy Drew DorianOverview Porsche is aiming to become a fixture in the world of exotic sports cars with a production supercar based on the Mission S concept. We don't yet have too many details about this mid-engined stunner, but we expect a high-performance powertrain and bonkers acceleration. Porsche says this platform can support a gas-only powertrain as well as hybrid and plug-in hybrid setups, so we expect a range of available propulsion options. Inside the two-seat cabin of the Mission S concept car, Porsche has deprioritized touchscreens, and the car lacks a traditional infotainment system altogether. Instead, a MagSafe dock for a smartphone is provided, and Porsche intends drivers to use their own device for navigation and entertainment features. Un-digitizing the car interior is a novel idea, but we’re willing to bet the production version will have some version of Porsche’s current infotainment system instead. Expert Tip: Porsche’s supercar is still a few years off, but there’s no need to wait to satisfy your need for speed.
Porsche is developing a mid-engine supercar that will be positioned above the 911. Previewed by the new Mission S concept car, the new supercar marks the first time Porsche has developed a permanent model that will sit above the iconic 911 in the lineup. Details are still in short supply, but we know that Porsche wants the interior to have minimal screens and that the exterior design takes inspiration from historic models. What’s that? The world turned upside down? And are those pigs flying? Oh, it’s an announcement from Porsche that the 911 will no longer be the top of the lineup? That’s basically the same thing. Porsche is incredibly protective of the 911’s image and its place at the top of the brand’s lineup. Usurpers in the form of the 959, Carrera GT, and the 918 have all been allowed to pop in for a quick stay but not long enough to supplant the 911 in any way, and the same has been true for the 718, which has traditionally not been allowed to surpass the 911 in terms of performance. Now, though, for the first time, Porsche is officially developing a permanent line above the 911. And it’ll house its engine in the middle, like a proper supercar.
Nearly 95,000 Hyundai Genesis and Genesis G80 models are being recalled because overheating power seat controls pose a fire risk, National Highway Traffic Safety Administration documents say. The recall, which was filed on October 8, includes 94,622 2017-2020 Genesis G80 and 2015-2016 Hyundai Genesis models. Front power seat motors on these models may overheat because of a power seat control switch, which can result in a fire while parked or driving. Specifically, the front seat slider and height adjustment control switch can become dislodged or damaged and run continuously until they overheat. “Prolonged motor operation over time may result in overheating, thereby increasing the risk of a vehicle fire while driving or parked,” NHTSA documents read. “Under certain circumstances, an external impact with sufficient force may cause damage to the switch assembly, including displacement or misalignment of internal components, which may affect normal switch operation.”Hyundai first became aware of the issue in December 2021 through a Speak Up For Safety report received regarding a 2018 Genesis G80.
Honda recalled 4804 Accords and CR-Vs for a redo repair on a faulty tire kit that was already recalled in June this year, according to documents filed with the NHTSA. The recall involves a bottle cap on the tire-repair kit that could fly off if incorrectly attached due to pressure buildup inside the sealant bottle. The recall affects 2025–2026 Honda CR-V Fuel-Cell EVs, 2023–2026 CR-V Hybrids, and 2023–2026 Accord Hybrids. Honda is recalling 4804 Accords and CR-Vs over a defective bottle cap on a flat-tire repair kit that could detach and hit someone when fixing a tire. Sound familiar? It might be because Honda already recalled over 1 million Accords and CR-Vs for the same issue earlier this year. Documents filed with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) show that this new recall affects a smaller number of the same group of vehicles as the first recall. Owners of 2025–2026 Honda CR-V Fuel-Cell EVs, 2023–2026 CR-V Hybrids, and 2023–2026 Accord Hybrids may be getting another notification telling them to head back to the dealer for a do-over.
Rivian’s point-to-point driving feature will first reach owners through an invitation-only “Autonomy Early Access Program,” and the owners it picks will have to sign a non-disclosure agreement to get in.
The program, laid out on a new Rivian support page, covers US R1 Gen 2 and R2 owners who pay for Autonomy+. Rivian says point-to-point launches to that group in late 2026 and won’t expand broadly until 2027.
Despite a humdrum hybrid powertrain, the 2026 Honda Prelude handles like a dream, and it offers two types of tires. A set of Goodyear Eagle Touring all-season tires is standard, but Continental ExtremeContact Sport 02 summer tires are a $1200 dealer-installed option. We’ve now tested one Prelude on all-season tires and another with summer rubber, and the results show the latter set helped it corner harder and stop shorter. Welcome to Car and Driver’s Testing Hub, where we zoom in on the test numbers. We’ve been pushing vehicles to their limits since 1956 to provide objective data to bolster our subjective impressions (you can see how we test here). Like most enthusiasts, we were a bit disappointed by the 2026 Honda Prelude’s firepower—or lack thereof. Now that we’ve tested a Prelude on its standard all-season tires, rather than just the set of sticky summer rubber on the first car we tested, we have the full picture of the little coupe’s performance. Unfortunately, switching from the all-season tires to dedicated summer performance tires doesn’t do as much as we initially hoped—but, fortunately, the grippier rubber does improve the sporty coupe where it counts.

Tesla’s latest crash reports to federal regulators add two more “Robotaxi” crashes where a remote operator, not the car’s autonomous system, was driving when it hit something.
That brings it to five in the data now. And every remote takeover that has shown up in a Tesla crash report has ended in a collision.
A police chase involving a Chevy Corvette, reaching speeds of more than 150 miles an hour. Tire-deflation devices. A Corvette engulfed in flames, with no driver anywhere to be found Police left scratching their heads. It sounds like a scene from a Michael Bay movie, but according to reports from CBS 6 Albany and News 10 ABC, it actually happened in Clifton Park, New York, on Monday night. The incident reportedly occurred at approximately 10:20 pm, when New York State Police troopers attempted to stop a Corvette traveling at speeds up to 154 mph on Route 9 in Saratoga County. The driver allegedly refused to pull over and instead jumped on Interstate 87 southbound, with troopers still in pursuit. Now, New York State Police have some serious horsepower at their disposal, including Ford Mustang GT patrol cars. But at 150-plus mph, keeping up becomes less about horsepower and more about keeping everyone alive. Rather than continue the high-speed pursuit, troopers reportedly radioed ahead to have tire-deflation devices deployed in the Chevy's path. Police say the tire-deflation device was successfully deployed, however, the Corvette still managed to disappear in the night.
Haas F1 has signed its replacement for the outgoing Esteban Ocon. The program has agreed to terms with Rafael Câmara, the current Formula 2 championship leader, to the team in what is being described as a multi-year deal. The signing means that Haas will promote the most decorated driver currently competing in the official Formula 1 ladder. While Câmara leads the F2 championship over Nikola Tsolov by just seven points, he has already proven himself with successive titles in Formula Regional Europe and F3 over the past two seasons. While he won the Formula Regional title in his second season, he conquered F3 as a rookie, and would accomplish the same feat in F2 if he holds onto his slim lead over Tsolov over two remaining scheduled rounds. Câmara will pair with Oliver Bearman. Both are Ferrari-linked drivers, setting up the intra-team rivalry as a potential battle to replace Lewis Hamilton at the Scuderia if and when the 41-year-old seven-time champion steps away from the team. Bearman sits 13th in the championship with a handful of races left in his second full-time season at Haas, identical to the position he held in the standings last year.
