Jets recall prospect Yager amid hot start with AHL Moose - TSN
Published: October 19, 2026 at 11:39a.m. EDTThe Winnipeg Jets recalled prospect Brayden Yager from the AHL’s Manitoba Moose on Monday. Yager, 21, is off to a blistering start in the AHL, posting five goals and nine points in six games with the Moose, including five points in his past two. He went without a point in three games with the Jets last season, posting 10 goals and 30 points in 68 AHL games. In a corresponding move, the Jets placed Josh Morrissey on injured reserve retroactive to Oct. 7. The team said last week the defenceman is week-to-week with an upper-body injury. The 5-foot-11 centre was drafted 14th overall by the Pittsburgh Penguins in 2023 and then dealt to the Jets in August of 2024 in exchange for prospect Rutger McGroarty. Yager played four seasons in the Western Hockey League with the Moose Jaw Warriors and Lethbridge Hurricanes and helped Moose Jaw to a WHL championship in 2023-24. Yager represented Canada twice at the World Juniors in 2024 and 2025, finishing fifth both times.

ESPN’s Pete Thamel reports the Longhorns plan to give redshirt freshman KJ Lacey Jr. more first-team reps this week after an upset 27-24 loss to Florida on Saturday. Following a 4-0 start, including a dramatic comeback win over Ohio State, Texas has lost two in a row. Manning, the grandson of Archie Manning and nephew of Peyton Manning and Eli Manning, struggled mightily against the Gators after starting the game with a 17-3 lead. He was sacked five times, including one that led to a fumble on the team’s final possession. Manning ended his afternoon throwing for 173 yards on 14-for-20 passing with a touchdown. The preseason presumptive first overall pick in the 2027 NFL Draft, Manning has shown flashes of brilliance this season alongside some poor decision-making. It’s the latter that forced Sarkisian to concede that a change could come under centre. “We’re not playing very good football right now,” Sarkisian said after the loss. “I have to evaluate everything. It’s gonna be a long night.”Lacey, 19, was Alabama’s Mr.
