Cyberpunk: Edgerunners II: The Kotaku Review

The first season of Cyberpunk: Edgerunners is filled with memorable moments that serve as the foundation to its story, moments that make the whole season feel like a kind of brutal, heartbreaking symphony in which every thread and refrain serves a purpose, all coming together in ways that make each element resonate with more power than it ever could on its own., It’s almost as ifStudio Trigger and CD Projekt Red knew they had to hit these incredible narrative highs and worked backwards from them, ensuring that every minute detail of its 10-episode run cleanly paved the way to its most memorable setpieces. I’m thinking of scenes like Edgerunners’ protagonist David Martinez watching his mentor Maine succumb to cyberpsychosis as Trigger depicts David’s immediate, gut-wrenching grief in the most visually disturbing way with a few seconds of detailed animation, as well as the final moments in which  netrunner Lucy, having dreamt of going to the moon for her entire life, finally makes it because of her lover’s actions. These only hit because Edgerunners uses every frame of animation to earn them.

Cyberpunk 2077 movie "won't be a one-to-one translation of the game's story", CD Projekt Red boss confirms, and boy do I think that's the right move

A more Edgerunners-esque original tale from Night City looks to be in the offing Since the existence of plans for a Cyberpunk 2077 live-action adaptation from devs CD Projekt Red and Paramount Pictures was revealed last week, I've been hoping it won't take the form of porting V's tale from the game to the big screen. Such a thing wouldn't necessarily be terrible, but I like my game adaptations a bit more on the original story side of things, as Cyberpunk tie-in anime series Edgerunners has been. The good news is that one of CD Projekt Red's big bosses has now confirmed that this adaptation won't be beat-for-beat retelling of 'Honey, there's a Keanu in my brain'.

The Live-Action Cyberpunk 2077 Movie Won't Retrace the Game's Steps, CD Projekt Confirms

CD Projekt Red has finally spoken up about the live-action Cyberpunk 2077 movie. The company said it doesn’t want to do a 1:1 adaptation of the game, instead telling a new story within the same universe. "At this point, we can only say that we definitely don't want to make a film adaptation of the game," co-CEO Michał Nowakowski told Polish outlet PAP Biznes, via GamesRadar. "We want to tell a story in the world of Cyberpunk, but it won't be a one-to-one translation of the game's story. "The Cyberpunk movie is being created in partnership with Parmount, now under the Skydance banner after the recent merger. The film will be produced by Lorenzo di Bonaventura, of live-action Transformers fame. It’ll be interesting to see how far the movie strays from the game, which featured a freelance mercenary called V who put a mysterious computer chip in their brain and ended up haunted by the digital ghost of Keanu Reeves’ Johnny Silverhand. I’d personally love them to go back, get Reeves back in, and tell Silverhand’s story before he ended up stuck in a chip.

Embrace your jobbing musician soul with a new Cyberpunk 2077 quest mod that comes with the option of playing all the wrong chords for Master of Puppets

Cyberpunk 2077 quest mods are still a relative rarity and the latest's aimed at folks who don't think getting to play that one gig with Samurai during the main story's enough jammin' in front of a crowd. It'll let you and brain-dwelling Keanu Reeves tour various venues throughout Night City and offers the option of adding in custom songs from your own playlist if you don't mind looking down to see that your fingers definitely aren't in the right place. Guitar Gigs Across Night City is clearly built on a lot of the animations and interactions from that one base game gig, but its creator insists there's more to it than just getting up on stage and pressing a button to strum. Across six quests, a progression system sees you unlock new venues, attract bigger crowds, and earn better rewards. Johnny Silverhand will play along during some of the glitzier gigs.
