CD Projekt Red has finally spoken up about the live-action Cyberpunk 2077 movie. The company said it doesn’t want to do a 1:1 adaptation of the game, instead telling a new story within the same universe. "At this point, we can only say that we definitely don't want to make a film adaptation of the game," co-CEO Michał Nowakowski told Polish outlet PAP Biznes, via GamesRadar. "We want to tell a story in the world of Cyberpunk, but it won't be a one-to-one translation of the game's story. "The Cyberpunk movie is being created in partnership with Parmount, now under the Skydance banner after the recent merger. The film will be produced by Lorenzo di Bonaventura, of live-action Transformers fame. It’ll be interesting to see how far the movie strays from the game, which featured a freelance mercenary called V who put a mysterious computer chip in their brain and ended up haunted by the digital ghost of Keanu Reeves’ Johnny Silverhand. I’d personally love them to go back, get Reeves back in, and tell Silverhand’s story before he ended up stuck in a chip.

Cyberpunk 2077 movie "won't be a one-to-one translation of the game's story", CD Projekt Red boss confirms, and boy do I think that's the right move

A more Edgerunners-esque original tale from Night City looks to be in the offing Since the existence of plans for a Cyberpunk 2077 live-action adaptation from devs CD Projekt Red and Paramount Pictures was revealed last week, I've been hoping it won't take the form of porting V's tale from the game to the big screen. Such a thing wouldn't necessarily be terrible, but I like my game adaptations a bit more on the original story side of things, as Cyberpunk tie-in anime series Edgerunners has been. The good news is that one of CD Projekt Red's big bosses has now confirmed that this adaptation won't be beat-for-beat retelling of 'Honey, there's a Keanu in my brain'.

CD Projekt is in "a really dangerous place", says Anthem's executive producer, pointing to ballooning costs of making games of that scope and quality

Mark Darrah predicts a "bifurcation" is coming "The triple-A industry has become over-specialised, specialised to the point of hyper-fragility," Mark Darrah states in a foreboding interview found deep in the pages of the Summer Eternal Anthology, recently covered by Edwin. As a former executive producer at Bioware, who corralled teams on Anthem and Dragon Age, after starting his career as a programmer on Baldur's Gate, Neverwinter Nights, and Jade Empire, Darrah has seen firsthand the growing scale of video game production and the challenges it can bring.

Rain98 is a blue-hued, pre-Y2K, Serial Experiments Lain inspired visual novel about time travelling to the past to end the world

Picture this. You're me, and you boot up the demo for Rain98, an incredibly blue-looking, rainy visual novel set in Tokyo, 1998, about a woman who refers to herself as the Angolmois, a world-ending reference to the predictions of good ole Nostradamus. At one point you have to light this woman's cigarette in a lightly stylish sequence. You get to a bit where you're asked to put your name in, and you put it in because like its predecessors, this is surely a self-insert kind of situation. Only you get a Steam achievement for getting a game over for putting your name in. Rude! But curious, so you, and of course I mean I, pressed on. In Rain98, you play as a nameless Generic Man who is deeply troubled, if not outright suicidal (of which this game has strong themes of) by the state of the world as it is in our present day. It's a fair stance to take! I would not exactly say things are good right now. But they weren't great in 1998 Japan, the year that Generic Man is somehow transported back to, finding this young woman, Reina Amehara, the Angolmois, in what he thinks is his apartment.

Battlefield 6 Devs Respond After Players Take Aim at 'Secuty' Typo and Cosmetic With 5 Pistols

Updated: Oct 17, 2026 9:28pm UTCThe Battlefield 6 team has responded after players took aim at a few controversial cosmetics added in Season 5. Battlefield Studios took to its official Discord server to offer background information on two skins that caused a stir with the launch of Battlefield 6 Season 5 this past week (via MP1st). The full text confirmed at least one of the issues has a fix in the works, while the other will seemingly remain the same. The cosmetics – one with what appeared to be a typo in the word "security" and another featuring infantry sporting a whopping five pistol holsters – were officially added October 13 and almost immediately drew ire from fans. It's that pesky misspelling, which took the shape of the non-existent word "security" on the armband of a McNeil skin, that the developers say will be fixed when Battlefield 6 Season 5 launches in November. Secuty 😭 It's AI #Battlefield6 https://t.co/8DVphghCSU— Battlefield Intel (@BattlefieldInte) October 13, 2026 "You called it out clearly, and we hear your concerns," the message, acknowledging the memes and conversations surrounding the new skins, said.
