An ICE officer is facing a slew of felony charges after allegedly assaulting a 72-year-old homeowner and the man’s daughter after they found him sleeping on their front lawn. The Fresno County district attorney’s office announced Tuesday that David Gonzalez III was being charged with assault by means likely to produce great bodily injury, elder abuse, vandalism and battery. If convicted, Gonzalez faces up to four years and eight months in custody, according to the office. Gonzalez, 32, is from McAllen, Texas. It was not immediately clear why he was in Fresno. But the Central Valley has in recent weeks noticed an uptick in Immigration and Customs Enforcement arrests. The Department of Homeland Security has not responded to questions on the agent and his employment status with ICEThe incident took place around 3 a.m. on Oct. 9, when the Fresno Police Department received several reports of a gunshot fired near East Dudley Avenue and North Broadway Street in the Tower District. Officers arrived and found Gonzalez in handcuffs with a gunshot wound to his midsection, the department said in a statement last week.

Long Beach congressman calls for probe after ICE agents accused of breaking man's arm
Video of an ICE arrest in Long Beach is drawing scrutiny. Now, a local congressman is calling for an investigation. Tuesday, October 20, 2026 12:57AMLONG BEACH, Calif. (KABC) -- Video showing federal immigration agents taking a man to the ground during an arrest in Long Beach has drawn scrutiny from local leaders and advocacy groups, with one congressman now demanding an investigation. According to witnesses, Ricardo Gonzalez, a former Long Beach city worker, was riding a bicycle Saturday when U. S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents pursued him in SUVs and took him to the ground in a neighborhood. Neither ICE nor the Department of Homeland Security has publicly said why Gonzalez was arrested. Advocates say the man seen being detained is a U. S. citizen. Eyewitness News has not confirmed his citizenship status. During the arrest, Gonzalez could be heard yelling that his arm was broken. The advocacy group StopICE.net reported that agents had positioned their vehicles in the middle of a Long Beach neighborhood and issued an alert. Could change in B.C. municipal elections echo in provincial vote?
It was a night of change for many municipalities across B. C. on Saturday night as incumbent mayors and most of their slates were voted out of office. Former Surrey councillor Barinder Rasode said it appeared to be an election driven by a desire for change, not an ideological shift. “It was a real indication and need for change on issues that matter to community around public safety, affordability and housing,” she said. But for some, the unexpected results have them wondering if it is an indication of what might happen during the provincial election this Saturday. “The shelf life of a successful government in Canada now is about 10 years,” Hamish Telford, University of the Fraser Valley political science associate professor, said. “The NDP have been in power now for nine now under two premiers.” Story continues below advertisement

Michael McCormack used home-course advantage to lead Xaverian golf to another Division 1 South crown
Michael McCormack knows Thorny Lea Golf Club in Brockton well. The Xaverian senior from neighboring Easton was at his home course Monday, chasing the lead in the MIAA Division 1 South sectional qualifier. “I just stayed patient the whole entire day,” said McCormack. “I just had to hit fairways and greens, and I knew I had a chance to win.”Trailing by two strokes with two holes to go, McCormack sank a 35-foot birdie putt on the 182-yard par-3 17th hole to give himself a chance. Wellesley senior Aarav Lavu bogeyed his second-to-last hole, on hole 1, bringing him to 1-over-par with McCormack. On his final hole, Lavu hit a 220-foot approach shot to around 10 feet, leaving himself a birdie putt for the win. “I knew where I stood,” said Lavu. “I just hit a great four-iron. Gave myself a chance to win it.”Lavu’s birdie putt rolled past the pin, and he tapped in for par. He finished tied for first at 1-over 71 with McCormack.
