HFSA 2026: ATTRibute-CM Analysis; LINK-HF2 Results; More - American College of Cardiology

New science presented at HFSA 2026 and simultaneously published in JACC: Heart Failure spans several evolving areas in heart failure (HF), from ATTR-CM biomarkers and measures of physical function to predictors of adverse outcomes in transplant recipients to artificial intelligence (AI) wearables enhancing discharge care following HF hospitalization. A post-hoc analysis of ATTRibute-CM biomarker data from 587 participants (mean age, 77 years; 9% women) found that an integrated biomarker ratio of log2-transformed serum transthyretin (sTTR) at day 28 to log2-transformed NT-proBNP at month 12 was associated with subsequent risk of all-cause mortality or first cardiovascular-related hospitalization in transthyretin amyloid cardiomyopathy (ATTR-CM). Each 0.1-unit increase in the ratio (reflecting higher sTTR relative to NT-proBNP) was associated with a 63% lower adjusted risk of the composite outcome (hazard ratio [HR], 0.37; p<0.001). Most frail breast cancer survivors lack Medicare home care - News-Medical

For the increasing number of women that survive breast cancer, many older, long-term survivors remain frail. A new study out today in the Journal of the National Cancer Institute shows that in a given year over half of these highly frail survivors had no Medicare home health care. "When you beat cancer, it's a powerful moment – often a bell is rung on the ward and everyone celebrates. But once home, survivors face health challenges compounded by aging to the point where a lot of them still need help at home years later," said lead author Dr. Xuanzi Shirley Qin, expert in access to cancer care and Medicare, and assistant professor at UMD's School of Public Health.

RFK Jr’s ‘deities of vaccine research’ raided by police in Guinea-Bissau - The Guardian

Controversial vaccine researchers who have been praised by Robert F Kennedy Jr, the US Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) secretary, had their offices in Guinea-Bissau raided by judicial police, who seized doses of hepatitis B vaccines, officials said on Facebook. The researchers have been at the heart of an ongoing dispute over research on African newborns, supported by $1.6m from the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and matched by the Pershing Square Foundation and the Bluebell Foundation for a total of $3.2m. The police search took place on Monday, involving “investigative procedures aimed at clarifying the circumstances related to the said batch of vaccines”, according to the social media post, which was translated from Portuguese. The announcement noted that seizing the immunizations did not point to “irregularities in the quality, safety, or effectiveness of the vaccines”. The Bandim Health Project recently posted a letter of approval for the trial from Guinea-Bissau’s national ethics committee at the ministry of public health, dated 14 July and signed by the committee’s president, Mouhammed Djicó Ould Ahmed.
