NASA’s Nancy Grace Roman Space Telescope, aboard a SpaceX Falcon Heavy rocket, launched from Launch Complex 39A at the agency’s Kennedy Space Center in Florida on Aug. 30, 2026 at 7:26 a.m. EDT.
The Falcon Heavy’s 27 Merlin engines generate more than 5 million pounds of thrust, pushing the rocket rapidly through the atmosphere and away from Florida’s spaceport. The first stage consists of a center core and two side boosters, while the second stage, mounted atop the center core, carries the Roman observatory.
Two NHS trusts to use speech-to-notes technology30 August 2026Andrew DawkinsWest MidlandsThe Royal Wolverhampton NHS TrustThe technology will be rolled out at The Royal Wolverhampton and Walsall Healthcare NHS trustsTechnology that listens to patient consultations and generates notes will be rolled out at two NHS trusts, after a successful pilot scheme. The project at Walsall Healthcare "on average reduced clinicians' documentation time to less than four minutes per patient", The Royal Wolverhampton said. Equipment listened "securely" and automatically generated "structured clinical notes, which are reviewed, edited where necessary and approved before being added to the patient's record", it explained. The Royal Wolverhampton, which has a strategic partnership with Walsall Healthcare, said the technology would "initially be introduced in Emergency Departments and outpatient specialties across both Trusts, and across all areas by 2028". According to The Royal Wolverhampton, new digital ambient voice technology [AVT] "helps clinicians better focus on their consultations".

CAPE CANAVERAL, Fla. (AP) — NASA's newest crown jewel blasted off Sunday to hunt for planets around other stars, explore secret dark energy and survey the cosmos like never before.
SpaceX launched the $4.3 billion Roman Space Telescope shortly after daybreak aboard a triple-the-firepower Falcon Heavy rocket. Roman blazed toward an observation point 1 million miles (1.6 million kilometers) away that's home to the Webb Space Telescope, one of NASA's other big-ticket eyes in the sky.
LONDON (AP) — Chelsea made official the signing of Argentina goalkeeper Emiliano Martínez on Sunday. The English club said the 33-year-old goalkeeper, who won the World Cup in 2022, has signed a three-year deal, joining from Aston Villa. “Coming to Chelsea, for me and my family, was an easy decision to make and I’m just over the moon. I can’t wait to get started,” Martínez said. “I want to be successful here. I’m someone who wants to win at everything I do and I want to bring that here to this football club because it’s a football club that wins titles, so I think it’s a good match.”Martínez immediately took over the starting goalkeeping spot in Xabi Alonso's team, usurping previous No. 1 Robert Sánchez for Sunday's match against Brighton at Stamford Bridge. Sánchez made mistakes leading to goals in Chelsea's Premier League opener against Fulham on Monday and was widely regarded as the team's big weakness in its bid to become a title contender this season. Villa earlier this month signed U. S.-born Japan goalkeeper Zion Suzuki from Parma, opening the door for Martínez's departure. Martínez has been Argentina’s regular starter since 2021, earning 67 caps.
NEW YORK (AP): There are few inalienable truths: Everyone was born, everyone will die, and everyone loved Dolly Parton. Larger-than-life at 5-foot-nothing, the country star, actor, philanthropist, entrepreneur and theme park enthusiast who died Tuesday, transcended celebrity in rhinestones and fringe. She was embraced by fans across gender, race and class, embodying a mythology typically inaccessible to even the most influential historical figures. It’s hard to name a more adored artiste — one who could deliver a perfectly timed dirty joke seconds before a folk classic of her own composition. (This is where, if Parton were reading along, a self-deprecating quip would come in — lest anyone forget she was a whip-smart jokester too.) Throughout her endeavours, Parton worked to build a better world, while becoming inextricable from the American imagination. It is one of her greatest legacies: to take what you have and help someone with it. One of the most beloved artistes of all time In 2015, when Parton returned to Nashville’s Ryman Auditorium, Grand Ole Opry announcer Bill Cody introduced her as “the most beloved artiste of all time”, quickly amending it to “female artiste”.
The number of sister-brother combos in the PWHL, NHL, AHL, NCAA and other elite leagues continues to rise. Here's a look at the top sister-brother groups in hockey today. For years hockey families were only discussed in terms of brothers and fathers. Now, with the PWHL, there are even more sisters in elite hockey than ever before, and that number is only climbing. In fact, it's now becoming far more common for the sisters in the family to be the more successful hockey players as well. By next season, the number of brother-sister pairings in the NHL and PWHL could grow to double digits, a group currently headlined by full time sibling pairs including the Bathersons, Newhooks, Comphers, Greigs, and Samokevchs. Here's a look at the top brother-sister pairings in the hockey world. Mae Batherson had a breakout season scoring 15 points from Minnesota's blueline as one of the top offensive defenders in the PWHL. She signed with Las Vegas in PWHL expansion. Her brother Drake Batherson had his fifth straight career-high season hitting the 30 goal mark for the first time scoring 33 goals and 71 points in 79 games.
Oprah Winfrey used to consider GLP-1s a “gift”.
Having long struggled with dieting, the talk show star announced in 2023 that she had begun using the drugs – officially ‘Glucagon-like peptide-1s’ but better known to the public through brand variants like Mounjaro and Ozempic – to achieve her optimum weight.
What’s the best way to test the quality and vitality of the soil we depend on to grow crops, grow the trees we need to filter impurities from the air and provide us with oxygen? Of course, it’s to get a bunch of people to bury their underwear in the dirt for two months. That’s called science, baby, and it’s an actual experiment, the details of which you can read about in a new paper published in Plants People Planet.
Researchers recruited about 1,000 volunteers across Switzerland, who buried more than 2,000 pairs of organic cotton underwear at roughly 1,000 locations. After 30 days, and again after 60 days, the participants dug up the increasingly disgusting-looking underwear, took a picture of it, then sent it to researchers along with soil samples. In other words, people mailed out literally soiled underwear in the name of science.
This is an as-told-essay based on a conversation with Mo Zohourian, who works as a contractor for AI training companies, specializing in sales management. His work and project rates have been confirmed by Business Insider. Zohourian also consults on AI for small businesses and founded Annotation Academy, an educational platform for AI training. This story has been edited for length and clarity. I moved to Canada from Iran in 2023 and started searching for jobs. I had 15 years of experience in entrepreneurship and sales management, but after back-to-back interviews, I was not getting hired. I had been applying for about 10 months when I saw an ad on LinkedIn offering work for $15 per hour to train AI, no experience needed. Because I didn't have a job, I said, "Okay, I'll give it a shot," but I was skeptical. I didn't even tell my wife that I started doing it until I received the first payment. A few years later, I've built a career around AI. I now earn $100 per hour on AI evaluation as a specialist in sales management. I also consult for small businesses on how to use AI and have launched a platform to teach others how to become AI trainers. It's been crazy.

Published: August 30, 2026 at 5:21p.m. EDTNEW YORK — Three years after Warner Bros. abruptly canned “Coyote vs. Acme,” the Looney Tunes feature film that was given a new lease on life by Ketchup Entertainment debuted with an estimated US$15.5 million in ticket sales over the weekend. For the fifth weekend in a row, “Spider-Man: Brand New Day” topped the North American box office. It grossed $22.2 million in U. S. and Canadian theaters, according to studio estimates Sunday, bringing its worldwide total to $2.33 billion and making it the fourth highest-grossing film of all time. “Coyote vs. Acme,” which had been relegated to the dust heap, fared best of the newcomers, debuting in second place. The Ridley Scott action drama “The Dog Stars,” starring Jacob Elordi, flopped. The film, about a pilot and German Shepherd who survive a global pandemic, opened in fifth place with $8 million for 20th Century Studios. It added $11.3 million overseas, a poor result for a film that cost between $70 million and $100 million to make. “Coyote vs. Acme,” however, scored a decent, hard-earned opening. In 2023, Warner Bros.
