Gutierrez: US Has Gone Too Far With Tariffs

Carlos Gutierrez, former Commerce Secretary and CEO of Kellogg and author of Sheer Will, says trade under the Trump administration has become all-encompassing and can be used as part of geopolitical and political negotiations beyond trade itself. Gutierrez says the US has gone too far with tariffs and that easing them could help reduce inflationary pressure on American consumers. Gutierrez says the US has the infrastructure and capabilities to be a strong exporter, but should focus on high-value industries rather than making consumers pay more to bring back lower-value production.
