The Great Lakes Fishery Commission reports that sea lamprey populations are in strong decline, with four of five lakes seeing fewer adults than in 2025 and only Lake Erie showing a slight increase. Lakes Huron and Superior saw the largest drops. The commission calls lamprey control one of its biggest success stories.
