Description

Donald Trump is pressing Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy to make a peace deal with Russia. But are the negotiations bringing an end to the war any closer? Following talks in Oslo with US envoys, European leaders expressed cautious optimism about progress towards peace. Finnish President Alexander Stubb said the process was back on track. Yet shortly afterward, Trump again demanded that Zelenskyy reach a deal, arguing that Russia continues to gain territory. Michael Kimmage, founding director of the independent Kennan Institute in Washington, challenges Trump's assessment. Speaking to DW News, he argues that Washington lacks a coherent peace strategy and that the negotiations have become a form of political theatre, disconnected from the reality of the war. 0:00 Peace talks back on track? 1:14 Tensions with Washington 2:01 Analyzing the peace process 4:28 Zelenskyy navigating political pressure 7:15 Russia-Ukraine: State of the conflict 9:16 Intelligence and alliances 12:35 Future of peace negotiations #dwnews #ukraine #oslo For more news go to: http://www.dw.com/en/ Follow DW on social media: ►Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/dwnews ►TikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@dwnews ►Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/deutschewellenews/ ►Twitter: https://twitter.com/dwnews ►Reddit: https://www.reddit.com/user/DWNews/ Für Videos in deutscher Sprache besuchen Sie: https://www.youtube.com/dwdeutsch Subscribe: https://www.youtube.com/user/deutschewelleenglish?sub_confirmation=1
