KYIV, Ukraine (AP) — Since Russia invaded more than four years ago, Ukraine has become a global leader in military drone innovation, enabling its forces to grind a much larger enemy to a stalemate. But this technological force multiplier has come with an unsettling vulnerability: Ukrainian drone makers are highly dependent on electronics made by China, a key Russian ally.

Greeneye Technology, the maker of AI-enhanced targeted spraying technology for agriculture, announced this week it would open a North American headquarters in Salina, Kan. after taking possession of the site this fall. The company, founded by Nadav Bocher, Itzhak Khait and Alon Klein Orback, is privately owned and funded by multiple investors and strategic partners, including Deep Insight, Syngenta, AGCO Corp., Farmers Business Network and Jerusalem Venture Partners. No-Till Farmer caught up with Keith Crow, general manager of North America at Greeneye, to talk about the goals for the company’s U. S. expansion, how the company’s technology is updated, and how new crops are added to its AI-enhanced platform.
What led to this investment and why did you choose Salina? Crow: This is something we've been talking about now for the last four or five months. We met with eight different states and ultimately we're excited to choose Salina due to its proximity to agriculture. You don't have to look far outside of Salina to see a lot of successful companies already that exist in the ag ecosystem. What can you tell us about the site location and what will be happening there?
Scientists have long used a powerful gene-editing tool called CRISPR to make precise changes to DNA. But a different version of the technology, known as Cas13a, targets RNA, the genetic material found in viruses such as HIV. Now, researchers at Rice University have developed an improved version of Cas13a that could make it easier to detect HIV and other RNA viruses in blood and environmental samples. The study was published in Cell Chemical Biology.
Any enzyme used in an assay needs to be both sensitive and stable. It needs to be able to detect very small amounts of RNA while enduring harsh conditions, like high temperatures. Here, we took a stable Cas13a and engineered it to have the desired sensitivity. "
HONG KONG SAR - Media OutReach Newswire - 12 October 2026 - Organised by the Indra and Harry Banga Gallery (the Gallery) of City University of Hong Kong (CityUHK), 10AFEST 2026 will be held from 8 to 10 October 2026. The latest EY research shows AI is moving from promise to performance, and technology leaders are under growing pressure to show real ROI.
Recent research conducted by the global EY organization, in collaboration with Oxford Economics, highlights a persistent artificial intelligence (AI) return on investment (ROI) trap. Many organizations remain stuck in pilots and point solutions, without end-to-end process redesign, mature governance or suitable KPIs. Architecture choices are pragmatic. Only a small minority of organizations are building their own large language models (LLMs), while most rely on external or hybrid models to move faster and reduce risk.
The long-term access to CRISPR-Cas9 will help improve crop longevity and feed growing populations in Africa and Asia
In a key milestone for food security and climate-resilient agriculture, the International Crops Research Institute for the Semi-Arid Tropics (ICRISAT) has secured long-term access to CRISPR-Cas9 in order to deploy gene editing, one of the world's most transformative new technologies, across smallholder Asian and African farms. Unlike conventional breeding, which can take many years to combine desirable traits, gene editing enables researchers to accelerate the development of crop varieties with improved tolerance to drought, heat, pests and diseases, while enhancing productivity, nutritional quality and other farmer-preferred characteristics, all without introducing DNA from unrelated species. At first glance, the structure resembles a kind of elongated igloo or a giant, white snail. One one hand, it’s an immersive, pop-up room with a futuristic, bubble-like texture. It’s also a giant, walk-in camera (there are 221 lenses to be exact).
Premiering late last month at MODE Festival, a celebration of global photography, “Compound Camera No.3” is the latest work by Pneuhaus, the Rhode Island-based studio known for its large-scale, architectural inflatables. Dozens of tiny cameras comprise the installation, which covers more than 700 square feet and invites visitors to walk around inside of a projection powered entirely by the sun. The images visible through the tiny apertures land on bulbous surfaces, and visitors can push on the soft material inside to distort what Pneuhaus describes as a “bug’s-eye view” of the sky and urban surroundings.
Wednesday, October 28, 2026, 01:00 PM to 2:00 PM EDTWebinarEvent SummaryJoin the XR Association (XRA) and ITIF for three engaging presentations with representatives from two universities, Bismarck State College and the University of Rochester, and an XR education solution provider, Chocolate Milk & Donuts. Together, they will share practical insights into the real-world impact of immersive technology on teaching and learning—including how XR can deliver value for institutions, educators, and students. Extended Reality (XR) is creating new opportunities for meaningful, hands-on learning. Once viewed as experimental, technologies such as Virtual Reality (VR), Augmented Reality (AR), and Mixed Reality (MR) are increasingly helping educators bring complex concepts and experiences to life. Research on experiential learning shows that powerful learning happens when meaningful experiences are paired with reflection, discussion, and opportunities to apply new ideas. XR can provide the experience—but educators make it instructionally valuable by connecting it to explanation, modeling, dialogue, and assessment.
