With MLS Cup playoffs on the horizon, the Revolution have all of the pieces to make a legitimate run

FOXBOROUGH — The MLS postseason does not start for another month, but a playoff atmosphere prevailed for the Revolution’s 1-0 win over the Chicago Fire on Saturday night. Intensity ratcheted up a notch, and the announced crowd of 34,506 got into the spirit. Matt Polster scored off a Peyton Miller-Carles Gil combination in the 26th minute, and the Fire threatened via Robert Lewandowski and Philip Zinckernagel. But the most inspired play was defensive — blocked shots, saves, tackles. And that turned out to be a Revolution strength, thanks to keeper Matt Turner and a young back line anchored by 21-year-old central defenders Ethan Kohler and Joshua Wynder. The Revolution (16-10-4, 52 points) increased their lead over the Fire to 4 points in the race for third place in the Eastern Conference, and 5 points on fifth-place Charlotte FC. (The top four earn postseason home-field advantage.) They have four games remaining to catch Inter Miami (55 points) for second place, behind Nashville SC. First, the Revolution must get through the sixth-place Philadelphia Union in an away match Saturday, followed by Red Bull New York on Oct. 28, the regular-season home finale against Miami on Nov.

$675M OnLogic sale bolsters factory AI push - Vermont Public

The newly announced $675 million sale of Vermont industrial computer maker OnLogic to Japanese electronics giant Omron is all about AI — just not the kind that dominates the headlines and policy debates. With the acquisition, Omron and OnLogic — which the companies say will retain its brand, leadership and South Burlington headquarters — aim to accelerate their push into the emerging field of AI-driven factory automation, or physical AI. Vermont economic observers said the deal should give OnLogic the resources to grow in the fast-moving arena. “I think it’s going to be a tremendously positive opportunity,” said Frank Cioffi, president of the Greater Burlington Industrial Corporation. OnLogic has been creating rugged, industrial-grade computers that can handle vibration and extreme temperatures since its founding in 2003. Founders Lisa and Roland Groeneveld have grown OnLogic from a spousal startup to a 300-employee operation with locations in several countries and a $60 million headquarters along Interstate 89 in South Burlington.

This veteran knitter is getting a streaming boost - CP24

Published: October 19, 2026 at 5:00a.m. EDTCONCEPTION BAY SOUTH, N. L. -- At 81 years old, Barbara Harpur may just be busier than ever. In the last two months — all while water damage was being remediated in her basement in Conception Bay South — Harpur made three new variations to one of her classic sweater designs and prepped them for publishing at a local print shop. The timing couldn’t be better. Her new pattern book, More NL Guernsey Patterns, will release just as millions of people are seeing her design on their televisions and computers, as worn by Newfoundland actor Andy Jones on the Netflix show Below. How to set CTV News as your preferred source on Google“I knew the show was going and everything, and I was trying to get it all together, but the timing is perfect,” Harpur said. Her original Newfoundland Guernsey pattern is more than 25 years old, but its screen time in the streaming show has given it a new life. Newfoundland and Labrador knitting shop Cast On, Cast Off has been selling kits to make the pattern since Below was released, and is struggling to keep that product in stock.

FBI agent who investigated Sandra Birchmore’s death to resume testimony in Matthew Farwell’s trial

At the time, Birchmore was a 15-year-old high school sophomore in the Stoughton police Explorers program. Farwell was a 27-year-old Stoughton police officer and Explorers program instructor. Other witnesses who may testify Monday are Lisa Rocchio, a clinical and forensic psychologist who plans to discuss grooming, the process by which perpetrators of sexual abuse gain the trust of victims and manipulate them in order to carry out exploitation. In many of the texts messages shared with the jury, Birchmore reflected warmly on what the prosecution describes as Farwell’s criminal sexual assaults on her when she was too young to consent to sex. Former Stoughton police detective Matthew Farwell Uncredited/Stoughton Police Department viaProsecutors have said they are calling Rocchio to educate the jury about how perpetrators use grooming to form bonds with minor victims, who as a result of their attachment, may keep the abuse secret and appear to maintain contact with their abusers when they reach adulthood. Prosecutors also plan to call a childhood friend who participated in the Stoughton police Explorers program with Birchmore.

Adam HimmelsbachCeltics: 55-27, first in the East. Eastern Conference: Knicks over Celtics in seven. It might be a mistake to pick against the 76ers, but there are just too many players I don’t trust. The Celtics remain an elite regular-season team, but when rotations condense and stars shine in the playoffs, New York’s edge in firepower — led by the fearless Jalen Brunson — wins out. Police say a car has hit an Australian lawmaker, critically injuring her; the driver was arrested

MELBOURNE, Australia (AP) — A car hit an Australian federal independent lawmaker on Monday, critically injuring her in a potentially deliberate act, police said. The driver was arrested. Helen Haines, 65, was struck by a Toyota Land Cruiser SUV outside her electoral district office in the city of Wangaratta in Victoria state, a police statement said. Police did not identify the victim, in accordance with privacy policy, but Haines’ family confirmed her identity in a media statement. The 43-year-old driver was arrested at the scene by a passerby. He will be interviewed in relation to the incident, police said. “A knife was located by police and seized from inside the Toyota,” police said. “At this stage, police are investigating as to whether this was an intentional act,” police added. Haines, who was first elected to the Parliament in 2019, was taken to a hospital with critical injuries, police said. Authorities are concerned that there were more than 1,000 threats of violence against public figures in Australia in the past year and that being in public office has become more dangerous.

Darryl Rodriguez remembered as police hunt Midtown subway shooter

Monday, October 19, 2026 8:33AMStream New York's #1 news - AccuWeather - original content 24/7MANHATTAN (WABC) -- Darryl Rodriguez, the 26-year-old man fatally shot in a Midtown subway station over the weekend, is being remembered by family and neighbors as police continue searching for the gunman. Police said Rodriguez was shot in the chest during an argument on the uptown E train platform at the Seventh Avenue-53rd Street station around 12:20 p.m. Saturday. Investigators have described the shooting as a targeted attack and are searching for a suspect who was seen wearing red clothing, a black vest and a face mask. Authorities have not disclosed what sparked the confrontation. As the investigation continues, neighbors are reflecting on Rodriguez's life. They said he was a twin and worked as a security guard. His brother serves in the Marines and is stationed in Texas. The shooting unfolded in front of subway riders, some of whom described the panic that followed the gunfire. "She was doing compressions even before the police came there...people circled around," one witness said, describing a woman who performed CPR on the victim before emergency crews arrived.
