'I Just Sort of Disconnect' — Jeff Kaplan is Avoiding Overwatch at all Costs

Updated: Oct 15, 2026 11:44pm UTCFormer Overwatch director Jeff Kaplan explained how he protects his psyche by completely avoiding online discussions and subreddits about Blizzard's hero shooter. If you’re a die-hard Overwatch player, you’re likely familiar with the name Jeff Kaplan. He was essentially the face of the game for years, endearing fans with his regular developer updates and memorable interactions with its fanbase. After leaving Blizzard in 2021, Kaplan founded his own game development studio and is currently working on an open world, action-survival shooter called The Legend of California. He has firmly put Overwatch behind him — to the point where he avoids interacting with it at all costs online. “With Overwatch, I had a very almost clinical separation, knowing how the WoW thing had gone,” Kaplan said in a recent interview with GameSpot. “I’ve literally not played the game since April 2021. “I don’t, for my own psyche, I don’t read the subreddits. After I said my goodbye to competitive Overwatch and the Overwatch subreddit, I never go back and read. I don’t watch YouTube [videos]. I don’t search for my name in Overwatch. I don’t search for Overwatch.

The New Street Fighter Movie Gets Savaged By Critics, But Not Everyone Hates It

A celebrity-filled cast. A director best known for his work on the Eric Andre show. One of the most iconic and beloved franchises in gaming. What could go wrong? Apparently quite a lot. The Street Fighter movie is getting panned by many critics. Not quite as bad as 2024’s Borderlands adaptation, but still very far from great. Starring Noah Centineo as Ken Masters, Andrew Koji as Ryu, and Callina Liang as Chun-Li, Hollywood’s latest attempt to cash in on Capcom’s longrunning fighting game series marketed itself from the jump as a very silly affair. Cody Rhodes looks absurd as Guile. 50 Cent is playing Balrog. They even let Eric André on screen as ring announcer Don Sauvage. But based on early reviews, unlike Mortal Kombat 2, which committed to its dumb premise with unflinching B-action movie conviction, Street Fighter sounds like a dizzying mess of abbreviated character arcs and humor that doesn’t land. Officially in theaters starting October 16, the live-action adaptation has opened to a 41 percent on Rotten Tomatoes. That’s even lower than A Minecraft Movie, which was completely unwatchable.

Square Enix Shared How Long It Takes to Beat Final Fantasy Resonance

With Final Fantasy Resonance showing up and retelling part of the Brave Exvius story again next week, Square Enix took to social media to offer an estimate of how long it might take for someone to beat the HD-2D JRPG. It explained that it should last at least 30 hours, but perhaps as many as 40 hours. Recommended Videos With the estimate, Square Enix specifically mentioned its suggestion of how long it could take to beat Final Fantasy Resonance does only apply to the main campaign. That essentially picks up with the Season 1 story of the former mobile game and follows the adventures of the Kingdom of Grandshelt knights Rain and Lasswell and the amnesiac woman named Fina that they meet. It did note that there will be additional, optional experiences that don’t count toward that play-time estimate. For example, the company already mentioned there will be optional Secret Dungeons.  Ahead of launch, Square Enix’s shared a few of these community Q&A statements that went over other elements of Final Fantasy Resonance in addition to how long it will take to beat it. Another went over how familiar someone might need to be with the series as a whole to enjoy it.

Welp, all of you RuneScape folks who hate Reignited have gotten your wish, as the controversial MMO rejig has been cancelled

"Our goal is to see Runescape grow again" Welp, that was short lived. Earlier this month, Jagex made some big RuneScape announcements, namely that they're making a fourth version of the MMO (aptly, currently called RuneScape 4), but also the arrival of RuneScape Reignited, a new character type that would come with its own, new economy. The intention here seemingly was to bring new people in to breathe some life back into the game. This did not go down well with the old timers. And now, it's been flat out cancelled.

Christmas 2026 Hatsune Miku Figure and Plush Debut in November

Sega announced three kinds of Hatsune Miku merchandise consisting of a figure and plush based on her Christmas 2026 design. All of them are headed to Japanese arcades as prizes first. The two Fuwapuchi lying down plush variants will show up first on November 20, 2026, followed by the sitting medium-size version and FIGURIZMα figure on November 27, 2026. No US listings are live yet. However, the Sega Amazon storefront in the past sold previous Vocaloid Fuwapuchi plush and figures in that line like the DE:Monstar T. R. variant in the US. Recommended Videos In the case of both the plush and figure, the Christmas 2026 Hatsune Miku design features the Vocaloid in a red and white dress with green and yellow bows and accents, brown, boots, and a crown. The two lying down Fuwapuchi plush each feature chibi designs, just like past ones, with one featuring a small smile and the other a wider one. Each of those is about eight inches tall (21cm) and over 14 and a half inches long (37cm). The “medium” sized one is in a seated position and is just over a foot (32cm). It features the same wider smile as one of the two lying down versions. Here are the first photos of those three designs.

Why Rockstar Canceled Its PlayStation-Exclusive Follow-Up To GTA 4

At E3 2009, Sony announced that it was partnering with Rockstar on a PlayStation-exclusive spy game called Agent , with Rockstar founders Sam and Dan Houser overseeing development. The game never materialized, though, and now Dan Houser has shared more details as to why. Speaking to IGN , Houser said Agent never coming out shouldn't be a total shock because he worked on "a bunch of games that never came out." He said Rockstar tried with two or three different teams to make Agent--an open-world spy game--but the teams just "could not get it right." "And it never came out. We concluded that it was not a game we were ever going to figure out how to make. Other people can try, but I personally think it's hard," he said. Great spy movies like the James Bond series work so well because they take viewers all over the world, but "that's not an experience in an open-world game that really works," Houser said. "So we tried lots of things and couldn't get it quite right," Houser said, going on to say that the teams built great elements but they never came together in a full package. Images of Agent, which was reportedly set in the '70s, have emerged over the years, showing off some of what Ro

Call Of Duty: MW4 Is Not On Xbox Game Pass, But Here’s When You Can Expect It

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 is set for release on October 23, and in a big shakeup, it will not be available on Xbox Game Pass at launch. This has been known for a while, but Activision is reminding people of this in a new blog post on the eve of the game's campaign early access on October 16. In fact, Activision has been warning people that MW4 is not on Game Pass for months now , so the blog post is just the latest example of this. Upon release, the only way to get MW4 is by purchasing it outright, starting at $70 for the base edition and scaling to $100 for the Vault edition. Game Pass subscribers will have to wait a year for MW4. When will MW4 come to Game Pass? Activision said MW4 will be available on Xbox Game Pass at some point at the end of next year, meaning it will be "windowed" as a standalone purchase for about one year. Why are new Call of Duty games no longer included with Game Pass? 2024’s Black Ops 6 was the first entry in the series to launch directly into Xbox Game Pass, with Black Ops 7 following the same playbook in 2025. However, Microsoft announced earlier this year that new Call of Duty titles would no longer debut in Game Pass , an announcement it made in

Vtuber Ironmouse Joins Hatsune Miku: Colorful Stage for Halloween

Sega announced that Hatsune Miku: Colorful Stage is getting Mousey male and female costumes designed by Vtuber Ironmouse. Following her direction, artists epebe and Rosuuri created final design. The outfits will be in the Premium Gift Gacha in the game, though a Halloween Special Login Campaign also awards a Virtual Avatar Costume as well until November 6, 2026. Recommended Videos The free login event for Halloween in Hatsune Miku: Colorful Stage guarantees at least one Ironmouse costume change. Two bonuses featuring the design are part of that promotion. If you show up during the event period, you’ll get the Rosuuri custom profile item illustration and a Mousey Avatar Full Costume. The official teaser showed both the art and costume for the chibi Miku look.   With the Premium Gift Gacha, someone must use 3,000 Paid Crystals to pull once on it. (As a reminder, a 3,060 bundle costs $24.99.) This gives you the female and male versions of the costume for all characters to wear. In addition to the original pink and purple color scheme, there will also be three other options where red and pink, purple and black, and yellow and green are the main colors used.

Urine Trouble: PEE V PEE, a multiplayer game about hiding from the cops while you take a whizz on public property, takes the trophy for punniest title of the year

I've been doing this whole games journalism for over five years now, and I've seen a lot of different kinds of games in that time. I've written about plenty of them too, with a fair few being plenty weird. But I'll admit that today's game is one that I do understand if I were to tell anyone I'm interested in playing who maybe isn't familiar with games as a whole, they'd probably talk to someone else at the party. You see, Urine Trouble: PEE V PEE is a competitive online game all about pissing literally everywhere, and trying not to get caught doing so. In Urine Trouble: PEE V PEE, public urination has become punishable by death. "Good! " I hear those of you who hate when people randomly piss on the side of a building, though perhaps the death penalty is an overreaction. As a response to this, a group of rebels known as The Pissers decide to take back their city by pissing on literally everything. Luckily, you, as a Pisser, are able to blend in with the NPCs of the world in order to hide from the cops, as every single character looks almost exactly the same.

GTA VI Launch Trailer Appears Over a Month Before Its Release Date

We still have 35 days before the Grand Theft Auto VI release date, but Rockstar Games already shared the launch trailer for the next GTA game. It spends a minute and a half looking at gameplay involving Lucia and Jason as they take on Vice City. Recommended Videos The new trailer begins with Jason narrating and explaining that he’s currently trapped due to getting in trouble while enlisted and being unable to get a loan. That’s when he gets a call from Lucia. We then see the two of them getting up to some antics both legal and illegal. There’s also the common theme throughout that the two will stick together and make it through.  Here’s the full GTA VI launch trailer from YouTube. This is the second tidbit to come up concerning the GTA VI release date in the last few days. According to GamesBeat anonymous sources, it will allegedly come to PCs in Q1 2027. This means we could see it on multiple platforms by March 31, 2027 if those leaks and reports are correct. Also as a reminder, ahead of the game’s debut people may want to check out photos of the Miami Heat and Milwaukee Bucks game on November 18, 2026. That will be a GTA VI-themed match-up.
