At E3 2009, Sony announced that it was partnering with Rockstar on a PlayStation-exclusive spy game called Agent , with Rockstar founders Sam and Dan Houser overseeing development. The game never materialized, though, and now Dan Houser has shared more details as to why. Speaking to IGN , Houser said Agent never coming out shouldn't be a total shock because he worked on "a bunch of games that never came out." He said Rockstar tried with two or three different teams to make Agent--an open-world spy game--but the teams just "could not get it right." "And it never came out. We concluded that it was not a game we were ever going to figure out how to make. Other people can try, but I personally think it's hard," he said. Great spy movies like the James Bond series work so well because they take viewers all over the world, but "that's not an experience in an open-world game that really works," Houser said. "So we tried lots of things and couldn't get it quite right," Houser said, going on to say that the teams built great elements but they never came together in a full package. Images of Agent, which was reportedly set in the '70s, have emerged over the years, showing off some of what Ro

Apparent Leaked Footage Shows Canceled Assassin's Creed Game Set in Qin Dynasty China
Ubisoft was apparently making another Assassin’s Creed game set in ancient China, except this one was a full-fat AC with a massive open world and a fancy umbrella weapon. According to a new report, the game was called Assassin’s Creed Destiny. Assassin’s Creed Jade will explore the same setting, targeting mobile. Destiny’s prototype footage appears to be aimed at modern consoles and PC instead. Destiny was reportedly set during 206 BCE, where the Qin dynasty made way for the Han dynasty after a brutal civil war. The game likely would have focused on Liu Bang’s rise to power. MP1st found the footage in developer portfolios. According to the report, the game was supposed to be a partnership between Ubisoft and Tencent, the Chinese conglomerate that owns huge portions of the games industry, including a 25% stake in Vantage Studios, a subsidiary that oversees some of Ubisoft’s biggest IPs. The footage shows a hooded assassin battling through a siege headed up by warlord Xiang Yu, before switching to greybox testing environments for combat abilities. There’s a spinning umbrella weapon shown at one point.

Grand Theft Auto 4 Was Rockstar at Its Best: Unpredictable
By the time Grand Theft Auto 4 launched in 2008, Rockstar had carved itself an unassailable niche and a reputation for innovation. And yet for all that praise, it was pretty easy to guess what a new GTA game would be like. The formula changed little from the time the series went 3D. Some vaguely sympathetic character would encounter hardship and then embrace a life of crime as a little treat. That life might look different from game to game, but the general idea remained the same. GTA 4 defied that pattern, and it's one of the reasons it's still an excellent game. GTA 4 follows Niko Bellic, a former soldier traveling to America both for a better life and to find the man who betrayed his unit in the past. One of GTA 4's biggest surprises at the time was how small Rockstar made this version of Liberty City, a barely disguised post-September 11 New York City. (One of the plot reasons why you can't explore further is that the bridges are up following terrorist threats.) Where the settings of previous mainline games kept getting bigger, Liberty City was comparatively small. And yet it felt more alive than Vice City and Los Santos.

Rain98 is a blue-hued, pre-Y2K, Serial Experiments Lain inspired visual novel about time travelling to the past to end the world
Picture this. You're me, and you boot up the demo for Rain98, an incredibly blue-looking, rainy visual novel set in Tokyo, 1998, about a woman who refers to herself as the Angolmois, a world-ending reference to the predictions of good ole Nostradamus. At one point you have to light this woman's cigarette in a lightly stylish sequence. You get to a bit where you're asked to put your name in, and you put it in because like its predecessors, this is surely a self-insert kind of situation. Only you get a Steam achievement for getting a game over for putting your name in. Rude! But curious, so you, and of course I mean I, pressed on. In Rain98, you play as a nameless Generic Man who is deeply troubled, if not outright suicidal (of which this game has strong themes of) by the state of the world as it is in our present day. It's a fair stance to take! I would not exactly say things are good right now. But they weren't great in 1998 Japan, the year that Generic Man is somehow transported back to, finding this young woman, Reina Amehara, the Angolmois, in what he thinks is his apartment.

Battlefield 6 Devs Respond After Players Take Aim at 'Secuty' Typo and Cosmetic With 5 Pistols
Updated: Oct 17, 2026 9:28pm UTCThe Battlefield 6 team has responded after players took aim at a few controversial cosmetics added in Season 5. Battlefield Studios took to its official Discord server to offer background information on two skins that caused a stir with the launch of Battlefield 6 Season 5 this past week (via MP1st). The full text confirmed at least one of the issues has a fix in the works, while the other will seemingly remain the same. The cosmetics – one with what appeared to be a typo in the word "security" and another featuring infantry sporting a whopping five pistol holsters – were officially added October 13 and almost immediately drew ire from fans. It's that pesky misspelling, which took the shape of the non-existent word "security" on the armband of a McNeil skin, that the developers say will be fixed when Battlefield 6 Season 5 launches in November. Secuty 😭 It's AI #Battlefield6 https://t.co/8DVphghCSU— Battlefield Intel (@BattlefieldInte) October 13, 2026 "You called it out clearly, and we hear your concerns," the message, acknowledging the memes and conversations surrounding the new skins, said.

The Mortuary Assistant Film Director Jeremiah Kipp Passes Away
Underground horror director Jeremiah Kipp has passed away, according to his partner Lindsay Katt. Confirmed through The Long Island International Film Expo, Kipp released his largest movie just earlier in the year, an adaptation of the hit indie horror game The Mortuary Assistant. “Jeremiah was a gentle soul who was always generous with advice and sharing his knowledge of cinema,” writes the Film Expo, “he leaves behind many friends and an important legacy.” Based on the 2022 video game, The Mortuary Assistant follows Rebecca (Kingdom Heart’s Willa Holland), a down on her luck woman hoping her new job will pave the road to recovery. Working grim but seemingly benign shifts at the morgue, she suddenly finds herself subject to strange visions. That’s when her employer, Raymond (Boardwalk Empire’s Paul Sparks), delivers the bad news. It seems a demonic spirit hitched a ride on one of the cadavers, and Rebecca will need to follow specific rituals to rid herself of the entity. 15 years ago Jeremiah Kipp made my dreams come true. I had a very dark and personal story about Suicide and he believed it needed to to be told. I got to write and produce "Crestfallen" as a film along side him.
