Netflix bet big on AI with new movie — but did it help or hinder? - The Independent

Sometimes a single movie scene transcends its source material. As soon as you see it, you know it’ll be the only thing anybody wants to talk about afterwards. So it is with Ben Affleck’s Animals, although not for reasons that will please the film’s director and star. The scene in question appears late in the new Netflix thriller, when a kidnapped child is unceremoniously booted over the concrete side of a Los Angeles river channel in a little red trailer. The poor boy careens down the steep incline before striking the ground and being catapulted upwards to soar majestically through the air and into a sprinting Affleck’s waiting arms, in defiance of all earthly physics. This moment of pure, unintended slapstick has already gone viral on social media, where it has been widely and unflatteringly compared to the oft-ridiculed scene from 1988’s Mac & Me that Paul Rudd used to use to troll Conan O’Brien during his late night appearances, where a child in a wheelchair goes over a cliff and lands in a lake. Not exactly the sort of reference point Affleck would have been aiming for with the dramatic denouement of his return to directing.

'It's so strange, it's perfect': Angine de Poitrine's album illustrator on why we need their art right now - CBC

The first time Arielle Corbeau saw Angine de Poitrine perform, the duo hadn't gone global yet. It was early 2025, and members Khn and Klek were playing at the Centre d’expérimentation musicale in Chicoutimi, a borough of Saguenay, Que., where the band and Corbeau are both from. It's also the venue where Angine de Poitrine recorded its debut album, Vol. I, and the now Polaris Prize-winning followup, Vol. II. "It was a time where they would light hot dogs on fire onstage, and they would throw them in the crowd," remembered Corbeau, speaking to CBC Music from her Chicoutimi home. "That was pretty wild. "Quebec duo Angine de Poitrine wins 2026 Polaris Music PrizeWho is Angine de Poitrine? The masked Quebec band is taking the internet by stormNot quite a year later, the francophone illustrator would be tapped to design the cover of that second album, launching her artwork — and her name — into a stratosphere she never expected. Just last month, late-night host Jimmy Fallon held up the vinyl for Vol. II, featuring Corbeau's work prominently, to a cable crowd. The YouTube video alone has nearly three million views.

Marvel's VisionQuest Has A Connection To The First Captain America Movie - TVLine

Marvel's "VisionQuest" clearly links to multiple previous films and TV series in the MCU, but fans may miss one small connection to "Captain America: The First Avenger. " The new Disney+ series follows the White Vision (Paul Bettany) as he tries to reunite with his son and reckon with his identity after dying in "Avengers: Infinity War," getting resurrected as an emotionless killing machine in "WandaVision," and then having his memories restored at the end of that series. Part of "VisionQuest" is set within Vision's mindspace, a colourful, fantastical world located inside his digital brain, where he consults various Tony Stark-created AI programs. In the second episode of the Marvel TV series, when Vision is in a hurry to reunite with his son, J. A. R. V. I. S. tries to caution his brother; he points Vision to a painting of the first of their kind, which shows a burning synthezoid — the same kind of advanced, human-like android as Vision.
