‘On paper, both countries agree that smacking your child is illegal’: Romanian journalist Andrei PopoviciuWhen Cristian Mungiu’s Fjord was shown in Romania as a one-day preview this June, the reception was extraordinary. Across 53 towns and 96 cinemas, the film reportedly pulled in over 40,000 viewers in a single night, a number arthouse cinema rarely sees in Romania. But the response here had little to do with cinema. It felt instead like a reopening of a familiar fault line about the clash of values within the EU itself. The film echoes events from 2015, when the five children of Marius and Ruth Bodnariu, a Pentecostal couple from Romania living in Norway – part of a Neo-Protestant minority long viewed with suspicion in Orthodox Romania – were removed from their home by Barnevernet, Norway’s child welfare authority, amid concerns over possible corporal punishment and religious indoctrination. The fallout in Romania stretched on for months, with diplomatic friction, public demonstrations and constant media coverage. The children were eventually returned, and the Bodnarius later resettled in Romania.

Department of Homeland Security flag, a U. S. flag, and holding a mini one in her hand. The timing was puzzling, given that the singer/songwriter was already well into her seventh decade in the U. S., but she made clear her motivations in a statement issued on Thursday, according to PEOPLE. "I became a citizen so I could vote. I didn't give up my Canadian citizenship, and I never will," she said. "I'm a proud Canerican like Neil Young.
It was as a selector that Rory ‘Yaadcore’ Cha first earned his musical stripes. Having watched his father select on Love People International, he honed his skills early, exploring dancehall before settling in with reggae, with a serving of what was dubbed “revival”. His conscious roots reggae compilation mixtapes, Reggae Aroma and the popular Dubwise Jamaica party, were closely interwoven in the reggae revival movement headlined by acts like Protoje and Chronixx. In 2019, Yaadcore moved seamlessly from mixing to singing and released the single Ready Now, and has consistently released tracks, including collaborations with Jah9 ( Police in Helicopter); Richie Spice ( Nyquill) and Fred Locks ( Sufferation), among others. His debut album, Reggaeland, was released in March 2022 via 12 Yaad Records. It reached Number 6 on the iTunes Reggae Charts. A ganja guru, Yaadcore has been tapped for sponsorships by cannabis brands including Leafly (sponsors of his 2019 US tour) and Jamaica’s Itopia Life.

It's all hands on deck in the Season 23 premiere of "Grey's Anatomy" as a plane collision plunges Grey Sloan into utter chaos. Of course, that's nothing compared to the metaphorical plane collisions blowing up each of the doctors' personal lives this week.
Let's begin with Simone, who has officially chosen Wes over Lucas, officially putting an end to their love triangle. Just kidding! Simone still has big feelings for Lucas, making it all the more awkward when she, say, accidentally walks in on him taking a shower whilst searching the bathroom for a condom to use with Wes. Her life is basically one big sexual farce at the moment.
Once again, Scottish actor James McAvoy has put himself into the Star Trek conversation, with another pitch to play a younger version of Sir Patrick Stewart’s Jean-Luc Picard.

Stand-up comedians have always had a reverence for what they like to call a “comic’s comic” — a fellow comedian who works with such distilled purity and edge, diving head-first into the gnarly metaphysics of comedy, that the comics end up worshipping him more than the public does. (He’s the stand-up-comedy equivalent of an ultimate cool indie-rock cult band.) Gilbert Gottfried was a comic’s comic. So are Larry David and Doug Stanhope and Maria Bamford. And Norm Macdonald was one too, except that as you watch Judd Apatow’s juicy and haunting documentary “Norm: The Tale of Norm Macdonald,” you realize that there was a special thing about him. He was a comic’s comic…who everyone else loved too.
As the movie demonstrates, Macdonald’s credentials as a comic’s comic were unassailable. We see his very first network television appearance on May 9, 1990, on “Late Night with David Letterman,” where he did a bit about the devil commanding someone to kill his family and chop them into bits and stuff the pieces into a duffel bag. (Then the killer learns that the devil is a friend who was kidding.)
