Porsche CEO Says the Mission S Platform Is Compatible with a Manual

The newly revealed Porsche Mission S mid-engine supercar platform is engineered to support a traditional manual gearbox alongside automated PDK options. Porsche leadership confirmed that offering a manual transmission in the production model will ultimately depend on market demand and buyer feedback. The retro-inspired Mission S concept features traditional driver-focused elements, like a physical key, signaling a commitment to mechanical engagement. The Porsche Mission S concept car that was recently revealed is meant to point the way towards the automaker’s future—one where a new flagship supercar above the 911 pushes the brand upmarket while strengthening ties to the company’s past. And that future, it seems, could include an old-fashioned row-your-own transmission. During remarks at the launch event in New York City, Porsche CEO Dr. Michael Leiters stressed that the new supercar has a flexible platform that’s compatible with multiple powertrains, and he specifically said that it could be powered by either pure internal-combustion engines or hybrid ones. More interestingly, it can also accept either manual or PDK-style automatic transmissions.

Tesla Made A Lot Of Bold Claims About The New Roadster, But Do You Believe Any Of Them?

How real was what we saw? How likely will it make production? In 2018, Elon Musk told Joe Rogan he'd use thrusters to make a Tesla fly. Last night, the brand drove a car upside down, sent it off a ramp, flipped it over, and landed it. Then it cleared a line of its own vehicles with another aerial maneuver. Whatever you think of Musk, that was one hell of a way to introduce a sports car. Watching another executive pull a sheet off another car is going to fall a little flat for a while.

Tested: The 2026 Ford F-150 STX Lobo Phones It In

The 2026 Ford F-150 STX Lobo is Ford’s attempt at a modern street truck. Its deep roots extend all the way back to the first- and second-generation F-150 Lightning models (the gas-burning ones from the 1990s and 2000s that predate the EV of the same name). It’s a head turner, but not entirely in a good way. In the literal sense, it draws plenty of looks, yet broken pavement sends its leaf-spring rear suspension into a tizzy, and your noggin will move about similarly. Figuratively, driving it left us shaking our heads, wondering what Ford was expecting to accomplish here. A new Lightning this is not. While the Lobo aims to reignite the enthusiast passion its predecessors inspired, this new truck struggles to get the basic formula down. The last SVT F-150 Lightning featured a regular cab, rear-wheel drive, and a supercharged V-8 that made the whole thing go like hell. The Lobo, on the other hand, comes exclusively with a big crew-cab body, a 5.5-foot bed, and four-wheel drive with a two-speed transfer case, though it can switch to a rear-drive mode to light up the rear tires. More sensible perhaps, but not exactly a blueprint for performance.

The Jeep Renegade Is Returning To Europe, But You May Have To Wait Until 2030

It's only been a year since Jeep ended production of the European-spec Renegade, and a successor is already in the works. Unfortunately, Jeep enthusiasts will need to exercise some patience, as Jeep is only promising to launch the new Renegade "by 2030. " The company says the new Renegade will help "bring Jeep to a broader audience" and strengthen the company's position in Europe. The original Renegade launched in Europe in 2014 and sold more than 610,000 units over its 11-year production run. There has been plenty of talk about a new Renegade over the past year, but this is one of the first times that Stellantis has confirmed it and provided a rough timeline for its launch. Jeep confirmed the return of the Renegade while also announcing its European line-up will grow to include six models by 2030. These will include the current Avenger, positioned in the B-SUV segment, as well as the current Recon competing in the D-SUV segment. Joining the Recon will be another model in the same class, arriving in 2028. This model is expected to be developed alongside Chinese partner Dongfeng.

Cramming a 511-Cubic-Inch Godzilla V8 Into a Ford Ranger Is a Great Way to Go Fast

Hot-rodders just can’t get enough of Ford’s Godzilla V8. Since it launched in the 2020 Ford Super Duty, the engine has found its way into lots of go-fast projects. We’ve featured our fair share of 7.3-liter Mustangs on this site, but this machine built by Ben Strader is different. It’s a 2001 Ford Ranger, which sported a 4.0-liter V6 as its largest engine from the factory, and rather than swapping in a stock Godzilla, Strader bored one out to 511 cubic inches. As you might imagine, it’s a hoot. I saw the Strader family’s truck come across my Facebook feed not too long ago. See, Ben may have done a lot of the mechanic work, but his daughter Ally Strader is the one running nine-second quarter-miles in it. The Ranger scoots down the drag strip with 800 horsepower and 721 lb-ft of torque on tap, and it does that with no boost of any kind. Just cubes, baby.

How The Saab Museum Survived After Saab Died, And Why It’s More Amazing Than You Think

On December 19, 2011, after months of fruitless negotiation and three years of post-General Motors independence, Saab Automobiles, AB filed for bankruptcy in Swedish court. As a part of the bankruptcy dealing, the Saab Car Museum and all its contents were sold at auction. However, unlike the longtime Saab factory in Trollhättan, Sweden, and the intellectual property rights to produce the second-generation 9-3 sedan—which were purchased by a group called New Electric Vehicle Sweden (NEVS) and have remained ever since in automotive development hell—the quirky, underdog automaker’s monument to its own history was purchased by a triumvirate of three institutions.

I Drove the Honda Prelude Hard in the Rain and Found Out What the Haters Are Missing

As the weather turns in the Midwest, morning temperatures are dropping fast, and roads are waking up slippery. This has given me a chance to explore a new side of my 2026 Honda Prelude long-term tester, encouraging me to take the long way home after an early-morning gym or school run. What side is this? Its handling. As I’ve covered in previous blogs about this Prelude, the car has some flaws, most of which come down to packaging and value proposition. I’ll do deeper dives into several of those areas in the future; however, I’ve also elaborated that in other areas, like driving pleasure and performance, the car is an absolute banger.

Doug DeMuro Is Selling His Well-Used Ford GT With No Reserve

We are of the opinion that cars are meant to be driven like this one Take a long look around different high-end auction sites, and you'll quickly note that plenty of supercar owners simply don't drive their cars. Low-mileage examples tend to fetch higher prices and hold their value better. Doug DeMuro has clearly taken a different approach with his Ford GT, and now, it's going up for sale with no reserve. As supercars go, it might be hard to find one with the kind of records this one has.

Tesla Driver Says He Was Asleep Using FSD When He Crashed Into CHP Police Car, Injuring 2 Officers: Cops

According to a recent report by Reuters, Tesla has agreed to rename its Full Self-Driving (FSD) system “Tesla Assisted Driving” in Europe, acknowledging that the technology still requires constant human supervision. Apparently, one Tesla driver in California hasn’t seen the news: according to the California Highway Patrol (CHP), the driver claimed he was asleep behind the wheel while FSD was engaged. The Tesla reportedly entered closed lanes on a California highway and crashed into an occupied patrol car, seriously injuring two officers. The incident took place on Tuesday, October 13. Authorities say that CHP Solano officers were investigating a fatal crash on Interstate 80; while the investigation was taking place, police closed four lanes of interstate, and all drivers were diverted to the slow lane. The lane closure was marked with cones, flares and several emergency vehicles with their lights flashing. Apparently, none of that was enough to alert the FSD system or wake up the sleeping driver, as the Tesla reportedly drove into the closed lanes while still traveling at highway speed and crashed into a CHP Dodge Charger with two officers inside.

The Porsche Mission S Has an Analog Tach Needle Because Digital Detox Is Luxury Now

Once upon a time, screens in cars were a luxury. Then everything got ’em, and now, owners are looking for relief. So, the new luxury is digital detox. Don’t believe us? Porsche’s new Mission S concept—previewing its future flagship mid-engine supercar—doesn’t have a built-in infotainment display. It doesn’t even have a fully digital rev counter; instead, it uses a physical needle over a circular screen. If you’re looking for such an instrument cluster in any of Porsche’s current models, you won’t find it. This is all new, and it follows a trend started by the uber-luxe Bugatti Tourbillon, with its timepiece-inspired gauges, and the controversial Ferrari Luce.

Toyota Wants Europe to Consider Some Internal Combustion Cars Zero-Emission Vehicles

Like many of us, Toyota wants Europe to leave room in new car dealerships for internal-combustion engines, and it has a fairly bold suggestion for how to do it: cars running exclusively on qualifying renewable fuels, the company announced Friday, should count as zero-emission vehicles. Yes, even with an engine burning fuel under the hood. Toyota calls this a request for "partnership and pragmatism. " Specifically, it wants European regulators to accept the idea under a common definition aligned with the EU’s Renewable Energy Directive. The important word here is “exclusively.” This isn’t a request to give every gasoline car a green badge because its owner occasionally buys a different kind of gas; it's asking if cars that only ever run on eligible fuels could get that zero-emission tag. The timing is key, because Europe is already reconsidering its combustion-engine endgame. Current rules call for a 100-percent reduction in fleet CO2 emissions for new cars and vans from 2035 onward, but the European Commission has alternatively proposed a 90-percent reduction, with the remaining emissions compensated through qualifying fuels or European low-carbon steel.

Tesla driver says he was asleep on FSD when he hit CHP car, 2 officers hurt

Two California Highway Patrol officers are recovering from serious injuries after a Tesla drove into their patrol car at a crash scene on Interstate 80 in Fairfield. The 22-year-old driver told investigators he was asleep with Tesla’s “Full Self-Driving” engaged. CHP released dashcam video of the impact on Thursday. It’s the latest Tesla to plow into an emergency scene, a failure federal regulators started investigating five years ago.

This Time, Tesla’s Electrifying Roadster Feels Like the Real Deal

When you’ve been in this business long enough, you can sniff out the difference between a concept car that’s simply for show and one that teases an upcoming production model. The new Tesla Roadster prototype is the latter. This isn’t to say the entirety of this ambitious electric sports car, which identifies as a two-seat coupe that Tesla CEO Elon Musk claims will “crush every track record that has ever existed,” is production-bound. However, there’s enough evidence to support Musk’s assertion that the Roadster will enter production “in 2028” (give or take a few years). Parts such as exterior rearview mirrors will need to find their way into the finished product, and the prototype's SpaceX-supplied cold-gas thrusters and downforce-enhancing suction system may ultimately end up on the cutting-room floor—at least in any planned street-legal variants. Still, the basic bones of this battery-powered sports car look close to production-ready.
