Toxic Crusaders ‘Gameplay’ trailer

Retroware has released a new gameplay trailer for side-scrolling beat ’em up game Toxic Crusaders. Here is an overview of the game, via its Steam page:AboutWhen the evil Dr. Killemoff attacks, only one team of hideously deformed creatures of superhuman size and strength stands between him and his plans for global pollution: the Toxic Crusaders, earth’s last, greatest and ugliest hope for survival! The hottest heroes of 1991 return for a radical, radioactive beat ’em up for a new era, featuring awesome action, crushing combos and more toxic waste than you’ll know what to do with! It’s Clean-Up Time! Choose from seven playable characters, including Toxie, No-Zone, Junkyard, Major Disaster and Headbanger (who would technically count as two characters if they could only agree on something)—plus, for the first time, play as Toxie’s musically “gifted” girlfriend Yvonne, and the mother of all mothers, Mrs. Junko, Toxie’s mom! Battle across seven disgusting levels rendered in beautiful full-color pixel art as you defend Tromaville from hordes of Radiation Rangers, mutated thugs and zombie chickens.

Eternal Anima hands-on gameplay preview

One hour with Marvelous' new turn-based RPG. Recently, I visited Marvelous at its Shinagawa headquarters for a one-hour preview of its upcoming turn-based RPG Eternal Anima. As a disclaimer, attendees were gifted a bottle of sake with an Eternal Anima-themed label, presented in a special wooden box engraved with the game’s logo. The demo offered two save files set at points relatively close to each other in the story, both on normal difficulty (there are multiple difficulty options) during Chapter 3. The first let me explore a continent called Ambulis, including the forest village of La Boset, while the second picked up a little further along, after leaving the village and continuing toward a boss encounter. I started by returning to the ship to explore, where I found several rooms that appear to serve different purposes as the game progresses. Characters and certain mechanics seem to become available here at some point during the story. During the demo, I found a cauldron for “Concocting” (crafting) items, as well as a blacksmith where you can craft weapons, armor, accessories, and “M. O. S. Components” for M. O. S., the robotic companion in your party.

The Most Compelling Lovecraft Video Game Is About Hundreds Of Adorable Penguins

While his politics and bigotry have long been part of the parsing, Lovecraftian scholars benefit a great deal by the fact that the namesake died before 1939. Tales of unfathomable beings, the reaches of sanity and proto-steampunk sensibilities are ultimately parceled with race science sentiments and colonial expeditions. A new game from Umurangi Generation creator Naphtali Faulkner seeks to wield the horror genre without excusing its many sins. And how does he accomplish this? Adorable penguins. In Penguin Colony, you play as Antarctic birds. A great deal of them. Big emperor penguins. Little baby penguins. Rockhoppers. Chinstraps. By nuzzling up against another penguin, the player can transfer their essence in an instant. Each has alternating characteristics. Speed. Swimming. Jumping. A photo mode. And while it’d be dandy enough to belly slide around the tundra, their harsh but uncomplicated lives are upended. With dabs of alternative history, the game retells Lovecraft’s At The Mountain of Madness, this time with Nazis unlocking the ice sheets instead of well funded New Englanders. Learning of an ancient god, captured in frost, their research team attempts to uncover the deity.
