Lexus is discontinuing the plug-in hybrid TX550h+ following the 2026 model year. The gas-powered TX350 and hybrid TX500h, pictured above, continue for 2027, with prices starting at $58,890 and $72,410, respectively. For 2027, Lexus is expanding the availability of the Matador Red Mica paint and simplifying the TX500h’s badging. Lexus launched the TX in 2024 as a mid-size three-row SUV to slot in between the RX and LX, and offered the TX with a gas-only powertrain along with two hybrids, one with a traditional setup and one with a more complex plug-in hybrid system. For 2027, Lexus is giving the TX a handful of small tweaks, but the biggest update is actually the disappearance of the TX550h+ plug-in hybrid. LexusThe TX’s PHEV model is officially being discontinued, Lexus has confirmed, with the 2026 model year being its last. Lexus didn’t provide a reason, but the evidence is pretty clear if you take a peek at the automaker’s sales charts. While Lexus sold 57,346 units of the TX in 2025, just 953 of those were the PHEV model, compared to 10,740 examples of the hybrid TX500h.

America's EV graveyard has grown by nearly 20 discontinued vehicles this year - Business Insider

American EV sales aren't looking too hot. Since September 2025, when the federal $7,500 tax credit for US-made EVs ended, fewer shoppers have chosen a battery-powered car for their next set of wheels. In the second quarter of 2026, deliveries dropped 20.5%, according to Cox Automotive data. That follows a 27% drop in first-quarter 2026 EV sales and a 36% plunge in EV sales in the final quarter of 2025. The slowdown began reshaping which new car models appeared on US dealership lots last year. By the end of 2025, Ford ended production of the F-150 Lightning, Nissan axed the Ariya, Acura stopped building the ZDX, and Volkswagen paused the ID. Buzz until 2027. That shake-up has continued into 2026, but the lineup changes aren't a wholesale retreat from EVs. "It's a part of many legacy automakers retooling their EV strategies," Seth Goldstein, an analyst at Morningstar, told Business Insider. "A lot of automakers are going back to the drawing board. They're looking to discontinue unprofitable EVs and replace them with more affordable, long-range EVs.

Apartment and condo residents could get more places to plug in their EVs without their buildings needing a costly electrical upgrade. LAZ Parking and EverCharge are launching a charging service that shares available power among vehicles – an approach the companies say can support up to five times as many charging ports on the same power supply. The new service, LAZ Multifamily EV Charging Powered by EverCharge SmartPower, is available across LAZ’s US-wide footprint. EverCharge is a wholly owned subsidiary of indiGOtech, which goes by GO.
