Jets recall prospect Yager amid hot start with AHL Moose - TSN

Published: October 19, 2026 at 11:39a.m. EDTThe Winnipeg Jets recalled prospect Brayden Yager from the AHL’s Manitoba Moose on Monday. Yager, 21, is off to a blistering start in the AHL, posting five goals and nine points in six games with the Moose, including five points in his past two. He went without a point in three games with the Jets last season, posting 10 goals and 30 points in 68 AHL games. In a corresponding move, the Jets placed Josh Morrissey on injured reserve retroactive to Oct. 7. The team said last week the defenceman is week-to-week with an upper-body injury. The 5-foot-11 centre was drafted 14th overall by the Pittsburgh Penguins in 2023 and then dealt to the Jets in August of 2024 in exchange for prospect Rutger McGroarty. Yager played four seasons in the Western Hockey League with the Moose Jaw Warriors and Lethbridge Hurricanes and helped Moose Jaw to a WHL championship in 2023-24. Yager represented Canada twice at the World Juniors in 2024 and 2025, finishing fifth both times.

Jalen Hurts out for season after blood clots discovered in Eagles QB's lungs - TSN

Jalen Hurts will miss the rest of the season after doctors discovered multiple blood clots in the Philadelphia Eagles quarterback’s lungs, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport and ESPN’s Adam Schefter. Hurts will undergo treatment for the blood clots that will take at least three months, according to Rapoport. Hurts’ agent, Nicole Lynn, and the Eagles released a statement Monday detailing Hurts’ medical status. Hurts is “clinically stable and has no significant functional limitations,” according to the statement from Lynn and the Eagles, but will not be allowed to participate in football activities while on anticoagulation medication. After initially being diagnosed with a superficial clot in his calf, Hurts underwent further examination that revealed “a deep vein thrombosis, as well as bilateral pulmonary emboli,” according to the statement. “Jalen’s prognosis is very good, and we expect a full recovery,” the statement said. “We anticipate that he will have the opportunity to resume contact football activities when off the blood thinners. In the meantime, he will remain active around the team and continue to condition.

US airman dies as daredevil descent goes wrong before Texas college football game - BBC

A member of the US Air Force died after he fell while abseiling from the ceiling of a Texas stadium ahead of a college football game. Footage shows the serviceman plummet feet first to the turf midfield at San Antonio's 170ft (52 metre) high Alamodome on Saturday during a ceremony ahead of the game between the University of Texas at San Antonio and the Naval Academy. The airman, identified by the military as Sgt Ian Patterson, a Tactical Air Control Party instructor at Joint Base San Antonio, died in hospital. The incident is being investigated. The game between the UTSA Roadrunners and the Navy Midshipmen continued as planned following the tragic incident. A collegiate athletic association said the decision to press ahead with the fixture was made before the airman's death had been confirmed. "We extend our deepest condolences to his family, friends, teammates and members of the 57th Wing," the American Conference said in a statement. US Air Force Brig Gen Scott Mills said in a statement issued by Nellis Air Force Base: "This tragedy is felt deeply across the 57th Wing. "Tech Sgt Patterson and his service mattered immensely to our wing.
