Gasps as Prince William makes surprise appearance on Graham Norton Show - BBC

2 hours agoEmer MoreauPA MediaThe Prince of Wales has made a surprise appearance on the Graham Norton Show, as part of a special edition to mark the Earthshot Prize. During the episode, which airs on Friday, he joined Cate Blanchett, Robert Irwin and Hannah Waddingham, who are all involved with the prize. As Norton spoke about the initiative with the trio he surprised the audience by then inviting the prince out to join them on the sofa. They discussed the need to pair optimism and urgency when tackling climate change. The prize was founded by William to "celebrate and scale the solutions that will repair our planet". The guests also chatted about William's long-time support for Aston Villa, and his love of Christopher Nolan films. William set up the Earthshot Prize in 2020, drawing inspiration from US President John F Kennedy's Moonshot project, which challenged scientists to get astronauts to the Moon and back safely. There are five Earthshots, or goals, for which an award is given: Protect and Restore Nature, Clean Our Air, Revive Our Oceans, Build a Waste-Free World and Fix Our Climate. Each winner receives £1m. The future king has committed himself to the prize until 2030.

James Bond finalists to screen-test for role for this week – reports - The Guardian

The search for the next James Bond may finally be nearing its end: according to reports, a very select group of actors will screen-test to become the next British agent 007 this weekend. According to the Hollywood Reporter and Variety, citing several sources, a group of actors reportedly including Callum Turner and Slow Horses’ Jack Lowden, will appear in front of cameras as the secret agent this weekend in London. The tests supposedly include three elements: stunts, camera presence and dialogue. Reports vary that between three and five actors are finalists for the role, which was vacated by Daniel Craig after 2021’s No Time to Die. Despite speculation to the contrary, Sinners’ Jack O’Connell and Wuthering Heights star Jacob Elordi are not testing, according to the Hollywood Reporter. Dune film-maker Denis Villeneuve is set to direct the next installment of the Bond franchise for Amazon MGM studios, which bought the series rights as part of an $8.45bn (£6.9bn) deal in 2022. The Peaky Blinders writer Steven Knight will pen the script.

Right now, somewhere on a soundstage at Pinewood Studios, several young British actors are lining up to have their dreams crushed. Rumor has it that Amazon execs and director Denis Villeneuve are finally holding screen tests to determine who will succeed Daniel Craig as the seventh James Bond. Not even M knows the full list of potential 007s, but Jack Lowden, Callum Turner and Josh O’Connor are widely presumed to be among the top contenders. One of these hopefuls, and only one, will end up inheriting the most coveted male lead in cinematic history. The rest will experience the emotional equivalent of being ejected from an Aston Martin passenger seat.
