Rebel Wilson has been ordered to pay A$10 (US$7, £5) in damages after emerging victorious from a bitter legal spat with her latest film’s co-producers. The Pitch Perfect star directed, co-produced and starred in The Deb, a musical comedy that became the battleground for multiple legal battles in Australia and the US. Filmed on a $22m budget, The Deb made just $335,000 (US$235,000, £175,284) at the local box office and is yet to screen outside Oceania. Wilson’s co-producers allege that shortfall could be traced to her false and derogatory statements about them online. The Bridesmaids star claimed in July 2024 that producers Amanda Ghost, Gregor Cameron and Vince Holden tried to block The Deb’s release, embezzled money, and behaved inappropriately towards the film’s star, Charlotte MacInnes. The producers alleged Wilson caused their company financial and reputational damage in an attempt to devalue her debut film so she could buy it from them. On Friday, Justice Elisabeth Peden awarded the trio a mere $10 in damages and otherwise dismissed the summons in the New South Wales supreme court.

'Masters of the Universe' Director Thinks It Was Done Dirty - Gizmodo

You may remember Masters of the Universe came out in theaters in June without really making much of a splash but blew up when it landed on Prime Video. According to director Travis Knight, that was intentional on the studio’s part, and it’s not something he totally agrees with. While talking about his latest flick, Wildwood, with the Hollywood Reporter, Knight said he didn’t entirely get why Amazon was more focused on Masters‘ future viewership numbers. “Its life on streaming was much more important to Amazon than its life in the theaters,” he said. “It’s not something I understood going into it. I wanted their faith in us as filmmakers and in the movie to be rewarded in a way that wasn’t to my hopes and expectations.” Though he’s since accepted the outcome, Knight still thinks Masters of the Universe “deserved a better fate than it got.” Theatrically, it made $113 million worldwide, but again, its streaming numbers were pretty big in July. Within a week of hitting Prime Video, it had 1.17 billion minutes worth of view time, making it the most-watched media in that period.

Elden Ring Movie's Reported $200 Million Budget Makes It A24's Most Expensive Film Ever — and It's Not Close - IGN

Updated: Oct 24, 2026 6:36pm UTCAlex Garland's Elden Ring movie reportedly carries a hefty budget of almost $200 million, making it A24's most expensive movie ever – and it's not close. Background information on the live-action adaptation of FromSoftware and George R. R. Martin's 2022 RPG was shared in a Wall Street Journal report. The site stated that, according to its sources, Elden Ring's budget is "nearly $200 million. "That makes it far and away the most expensive movie for the arthouse film-focused company, which has built a reputation for delivering memorable projects on more modest budgets for the last 14 years. Should Elden Ring's reported budget prove accurate, it would mean Garland's film falls in line with Marvel movies like Spider-Man: No Way Home ($200 million via Variety) and Jurassic World Rebirth ($180 million via The Hollywood Reporter). As seen in 2025's Marty Supreme, that's a far cry from A24's usual strategy. The Timothée Chalamet-led, Josh Safdie-directed drama made headlines ahead of its release for being the most expensive film the company had produced at $70 million (via Deadline).
