On a wild Saturday across college football, LSU avoided the upsets that shook up the national rankings. The Tigers shut out No. 16 Mississippi State 31-0 in Tiger Stadium, earning their most convincing victory in weeks despite dealing with significant injuries of their own. Mississippi State was without two of its top offensive players, starting quarterback Kamario Taylor and leading rusher Fluff Bothwell. But LSU coach Lane Kiffin wasn't interested in hearing excuses about the Bulldogs' absences. The Tigers have been dealing with injuries throughout the season, and Kiffin made that point clear after the game. “I know you're going to talk about injuries, and that'll be a storyline,” Kiffin said. “But hey, there ain't any team in America that has more significant players standing on the sideline than us. So not a lot of pity there.”LSU is playing without linebacker Whit Weeks and tight end Trey’Dez Green, two of its top playmakers. Starting safety Dashawn Spears and backup receiver and special teams contributor Phillip Wright are also out for the season.

Trump golf course: DOJ official clashes with judge in DC golf course case after Trump attacks her
A contentious hearing is underway in Washington, D. C., where lawyers for the Trump administration are facing off with a federal judge pushing for answers over whether she was deliberately misled by the government over why it removed hundreds of trees from a local public golf course. D. C. District Judge Ana Reyes has ordered testimony from Interior Department official Gregory Wischer and acting Director of the National Park Service Jessica Bowron over why the government moved abruptly on Columbus Day weekend to remove more than 500 trees from East Potomac golf course without giving her proper advance notice. Last week, Reyes erupted at attorneys for the government after the trees were removed despite her demanding the administration alert her in advance if it planned any significant alterations to the course given ongoing litigation. The golf course has been the subject of litigation brought by the D. C. Preservation League in response to President Donald Trump's efforts to turn it into a course that could host professional tournaments.
