One sugary drink a day linked to more than double the risk of stomach cancer - Science Daily
About 65% of U. S. adults report drinking at least one sugar-sweetened beverage each day. New research from the Mass General Brigham Cancer Institute suggests that this common habit may be associated with a higher risk of gastric cancer. The researchers found that people who consumed sugar-sweetened beverages every day were more likely to develop gastric cancer than those who rarely drank them. Artificially sweetened beverages, however, were not linked to an increased risk. The findings were published in the journal Gastro Hep Advances.

Fruit and sugary drinks stood out in a three-year study of teenage mental health - News-Medical

Scientists Studied 2 Very Different Diets and Found the Same Nutrition Problem - Yahoo Health
A new study found that two very different eating patterns shared a nutritional problem: inadequate fiber intake. Among 64 adults preparing for weight-loss surgery, approximately 83% consumed less fiber than recommended, regardless of their broader dietary profile. The Concordia University findings, publicized October 13, also revealed something unexpected. Participants who consumed more calories, fats, sugars, and nutrients showed no statistically significant differences in several heart and metabolic health markers compared with those consuming less. Next: I'm a Trainer: Americans Are Obsessed With Protein, but Most Are Missing One Key NutrientTwo Diets, One Common ProblemPublished in the journal Obesity Surgery, the study examined adults averaging 48 years old, with an average body mass index of 45. Researchers identified two dietary profiles. One featured higher consumption of sugar, fat, and overall nutrients. The other contained fewer vitamins and less fiber. "The high sugar and high fat group might be eating more fatty food like beef as opposed to chicken, or even putting more sugar in their coffee," said Concordia professor Simon Bacon, PhD.
Nanoscale tech tracks proteins inside living neurons to guide Alzheimer's and Parkinson's drug discovery - Phys.org
A technology developed at The University of Queensland allowing scientists to observe how disease-related proteins behave inside living neurons will be used to advance early drug discovery for neurodegenerative diseases. The NASTIC (Nanoscale Spatiotemporal Indexing Clustering) platform, spun out into Brisbane-based startup Accretion Bio, enables researchers to study real-time biological processes in living cells across space and time at the single-molecule level for the first time.
