Matt Nelson is an automotive journalist with nearly a decade of experience in all things cars.  He's spent years working at dealerships in sales, finance, and service. He's since traded in his pens and wrenches for a keyboard, and leveraged the expertise gained from his work experience into a writing career.

When it comes to cars, facts, and the truth, Matt’s equal love for all three meant automotive journalism was the only path forward. Ever since the age of six, when he’d spend his time helping his father fix his family’s old Buick, Matt has had a keen interest in anything and everything with four wheels. Naturally, once Matt started working, he ensconced himself in the automotive industry and held positions spanning from car detailer, mechanic, to automotive sales and finance. Because he’s seen it all, driven most, and heard a lot, auto journalism came naturally to him. With a passion for cars like Matt’s, it’s safe to say every article will showcase his penchant for truth, accuracy, and overarching desire to make sense of the modern, complex automotive world. This means every one of his readers can be at the forefront of the most important automotive news.

Pick of the Day: 1957 Oldsmobile Super 88 Convertible - The ClassicCars.com Journal

Like Danny Zuko and Sandy Olsson, flamboyant colors and white-wall tires just go well together. Although “Grease” did not hit theaters until 1978, the movie was set in 1958, which is a year after our Pick of the Day was introduced. This 1957 Oldsmobile Super 88 convertible offered for sale on ClassicCars.com by a dealer in Morgantown, Pennsylvania, appears to be the perfect companion for a leather jacket or poodle skirt. Advertised as “”57’s action star”, the Super 88 showed off Oldsmobile’s new “wide stance” chassis that incorporated a wider frame and improved suspension from the previous model year. The 1957 model year also introduced the Rocket T-400 engine, a 371ci V-8 with 400 lb-ft of torque. It produced 277 horsepower in standard form with a four-barrel carburetor, while a 300-horse J-2 with 3×2 carburetion was introduced in January. A version with a solid-lifter camshaft added another 12 horsepower.

4 EVs, 4 Hybrids, 2 PHEVs -The 2026 Wards 10 Best Engines Award Shuns Traditional Performance

Gilbert Smith is an automotive journalist with over five years of specialized research and writing experience. Before joining CarBuzz in 2024, he produced in-depth buyer’s guides and feature articles for Vehicle History, focusing on practical insights and detailed automotive analysis. We wouldn't exactly call this a shocker, but if you want proof we're officially living in the future, WardsAuto didn't pick out a single gas-only engine for 2026. We saw it coming last year when the Chevy Corvette ZR1 was the only ICE model included on its Wards 10 Best Engines list. It was easy to read the writing on the wall back in 2020 when the name was officially changed to Wards 10 Best Engines & Propulsion Systems. Here's what the latest round-up tells us about the automotive industry in 2026.
