The Honda Trail Experience iOS app, aka “HTX,” is a cool new tool that leverages your iPhone’s and SUV’s sensors to create an interface that’s both fun and genuinely useful. I’m always skeptical of companion apps for physical products, but I tried HTX myself with a 2026 Honda Passport TrailSport at one of Overland Experts’ off-road training facilities recently and came away impressed.
HTX is part data logger, part dash display, and part adventure-capture software. You can reference our news post about it for the full download. But basically, it’s an iPhone app (no Android functionality yet) that lives within CarPlay and is compatible with Honda’s TrailSport models. Scroll down a bit to see what app-captured video looks like.

Priority’s fan-favorite Sauce bike just got a big electric upgrade
Priority Bicycles has spent the last decade proving that bicycles don’t need to be complicated to be good. Now the New York-based bicycle company is taking one of its more playful pedal bikes and giving it the electric treatment with the new Priority E-Sauce. The E-Sauce is based on Priority’s existing Sauce, a chunky-tired, belt-driven, single-speed bicycle that was originally expected to appeal to a fairly narrow group of riders. (Fun fact: it also comes in an 8-speed internally geared hub variant, known as the Hot Sauce.)

Police Found A Semitruck Held Together With Ratchet Straps—And A Toddler Without A Seat Belt
Ratchet straps are handy things to have around a truck — except when they're being used to hold the cab together. Likewise, racing slicks are helpful on the track, but bald tires are super dangerous on road-going semitrucks. Finally, it's great when truck drivers want to bring their families to work, although an improperly restrained infant is not the way to do so. According to the BC Highway Patrol, an officer stopped a tractor-trailer with all of the above violations. And then some. The truck in question was pulled over near Malakwa on Highway 1 at 7:45 a.m. on September 26. It was dark, raining heavily, and the rig had no functioning taillights. Already, this sounds severely unsafe, but things only got worse during the inspection that followed. Police say the truck had defective brakes and lights, bald tires, a cracked windshield, and at least one missing windshield wiper. Diesel was leaking and there were hydraulic and air lines were detached, but perhaps the biggest danger to the public was the fact that the truck just so happened to be carrying unsecured steel bars.

Toyota's 75th Anniversary Land Cruiser Leaves Us Wanting A Bit More
Chris Bruce has worked in the automotive industry since 2011 and has written thousands of stories about cars, motorsports, and motorcycles in that time. He has written for Autoblog, Autoviva, CarFax, Edmunds, Hagerty, InsideEVs, Motor1, and New Roads. He has also hosted hundreds of podcast episodes. As hobbies, Bruce enjoys building plastic models of robots and cars. He also enjoys video games, particularly the 16-bit variety. His dog keeps him busy. The Land Cruiser is one of Toyota's oldest nameplates still in use, dating back to 1954. However, the company actually introduced the SUV in 1951, but at the time, the automaker branded it as the Toyota "Jeep" BJ. Willys Overland wasn't a fan of Toyota using the moniker of the still-fairly-new civilian Jeep that had only arrived in the late 1940s, so the Japanese automaker changed the name to Land Cruiser. Still, the timing means the vehicle that became the Land Cruiser is celebrating the 75th anniversary of its 1951 introduction. Toyota is commemorating the anniversary with a special edition. Unfortunately, only a few folks in a specific market are getting them.

Honda is fast-tracking a range of new hybrids for both its own showrooms and those of its upmarket Acura brand after pulling the plug on a major EV rollout at the last minute. The EV plans were so far along that Honda even changed its logo in preparation. Yes, it's been quite turbulent. The good news is that Honda recognizes that most new-car buyers still want an internal-combustion engine, increasingly paired with a hybrid system to help offset ever-rising gas prices. As a result, Honda and Acura plan to launch a combined 15 hybrid vehicles by 2030, with most of them destined to reach North America. The vehicles will include new generations of existing hybrids like the Civic and CR-V, but there will also be hybrid versions of models that currently lack electrification. We've peered into the crystal ball, and here's what we think is coming.

Nissan’s Pathfinder Turns 40, Breaks Out the Burgundy Trim to Celebrate
The Nissan Pathfinder has spent four decades going from a relatively compact two-door SUV to a serious off-roader to a somewhat softer three-row unibody family hauler. For its 40th birthday, Nissan is reaching back to the beginning with a new Special Edition that brings 1980s-spec burgundy upholstery back into the picture. There's a little welcome restraint in the pricing announcement, too, with the cheapest 2027 models holding steady and the biggest increase elsewhere coming to just $300. The Special Edition's main attraction is its black and burgundy “TailorFit” upholstery. Nissan says the combination references the burgundy cloth seats in the original 1987 Pathfinder. A bit of color seems like a simple and inoffensive way to celebrate; it also gives this version a more obvious connection to its predecessor than an anniversary badge alone would. Nissan2027. Nissan1987. The theme continues outside through red accents, including the Pathfinder lettering on the liftgate. Black 20-inch alloy wheels round out the exterior changes described by Nissan. Standard equipment includes a panoraic moonroof, second-row captain's chairs, rear-door sunshades, and a Bose sound system.
