One of the defendants accused of allowing more than a dozen of their surrogate children to suffer abuse inside an Arcadia “house of horrors” previously fled the country to dodge a child abuse investigation, a prosecutor said in court Friday. Los Angeles County Deputy Dist. Atty. MacKenzie Teymouri also told a judge Friday that Guojun Xuan, 66, and Silvia Zhang, 39, kept their more than 20 children trapped inside the Arcadia mansion for years, almost never letting them see sunlight. During a search of the home last week, police also found the cremated remains of another surrogate child that had been mailed to the house; the baby died shortly after birth in Florida, Teymouri said. The defendants never opened the box, according to Teymouri, who said Xuan and Zhang were “indifferent” to the well-being of their children. The Friday afternoon hearing was sparked by Xuan and Zhang’s attorneys attempts to have their clients released on their own recognizance. Los Angeles County Superior Court Judge Caroline Lugo instead ordered them held in lieu of $20 million bail. Teymouri filed a motion last week seeking to have the couple held on $100 million bail, citing their extreme wealth.

Girl group Valkyries of Arcadia drops ‘Candy Rush’ - Jamaica Gleaner
The Valkyries of Arcadia, an all-female gaming and content-creation group that is expanding into modern pop entertainment such as anime and cosplay, has added recording artistes to their résumés with the recent release of a song titled Candy Rush. “ Candy Rush was done as a ‘thank you’ to one of our sponsors as we thought we needed to give them something for their continuous support. We had originally planned to do music, and this was a good start as it wasn’t supposed to be something too serious but fun and catchy and sweet like candy,” group member Quani explained. “The song is rated ‘E’ for everyone. We want to show that artistes can infuse their personal interest into music and make it fun,” she added. Earlier this month, the group performed Candy Rush at an outdoor event in Montego Bay and used the opportunity to promote another track titled V. O. A. “We also hosted our Just Dance Along video game exhibition at our booth, and patrons got a chance to dance along with the Valkyries by following the dance moves in the game,” Quani said. The group is led by managing director Sashaun ‘Empre33 Nile’ Bailey and assistant director Rhea Rampair.
