AMD is bringing FSR 4.1 to Xbox consoles and handhelds - The Verge

AMD has just revealed that it’s bringing its latest upscaling technology, FSR 4.1, to the Xbox Series S and X consoles, as well as laptops, 6000-series GPUs, and both the Xbox Ally and Xbox Ally X handhelds. And it’s coming fast — FSR 4.1 will start appearing for Radeon RX 6000-series GPUs today, as well as Ryzen AI Max 300 and 400 series devices and Ryzen AI 9 300 and 400 series devices. Microsoft’s Jason Ronald says it’ll be available to Xbox developers “very soon,” too, in a post on X. AMD launched its FSR 4.1 update for Radeon RX 9000-series graphics cards in March, and promised to bring the technology to older GPUs and handhelds this year. FSR 4.1 can improve performance in more than 300 supported games, including Cyberpunk 2077, Battlefield 6, and Assassin’s Creed Shadows. FSR 4.1 arrives just weeks after Sony and AMD teamed up to bring Quick Spectral Super Resolution (QSSR) to the base PS5, based on Sony and AMD’s Project Amethyst work. “We want to bring that work to more gamers,” says Jack Huynh, senior vice president and general manager of AMD’s computer and graphics group. “We didn’t just bring it over, we made it better.

ESA targets Anbernic emulation handhelds as "superfake" piracy enablers

For years, Chinese hardware manufacturers have carved out a market niche with an array of handheld Android gaming devices focused on retro emulation and/or more modern game-streaming capabilities. Now, though, a major game industry trade group is targeting one of those manufacturers, Anbernic, asking the US Trade Representative (USTR) to add the company to its list of “Notorious Markets” that “engage in or facilitate substantial copyright piracy or trademark counterfeiting.” TorrentFreak was among the first to notice the request from the Entertainment Software Association (ESA), which was submitted to the USTR last week. In it, the US trade group—which represents major publishers including Nintendo, Microsoft, PlayStation, Amazon, Epic, EA, Ubisoft, and more—notes that Anbernic devices “are routinely offered or shipped with removable memory cards preloaded with hundreds or thousands of unauthorized copies of copyright-protected video games published by ESA members.”

Helen Chesnut's Garden Notes: Rhodo can be moved now or in early spring - Times Colonist

Or leave it where it is and propagate a new plant to place it in the new location. Dear Helen: I have a 20-year-old rhododendron that blooms every year, but it’s in an area of the garden not often seen. This year I rebuilt the garden beds at the front and would like to transplant the rhododendron there, where it would get better light and would also be better appreciated. Is this possible? Is autumn a good time to move a rhododendron? Or should I just leave the old shrub alone?

Google SynthID Detector Simplifies Watermark Detection and Expands Support to Other AI Providers - infoq.com

Google DeepMind announced the global availability of SynthID Detector, a tool designed to help identify AI-generated content, including media created using AI tools from SynthID partners such as OpenAI, NVIDIA, and Kakao, with Apple support expected soon. Before the introduction of SynthID Detector, users could identify content AI-generated only by asking Gemini, which was limited to content generated by Google AI. Identifying content from other AI providers required instead using their respective detection tools.
