Alberta’s government has announced new rules on when, how and what flags can be displayed at schools starting in 2027.

The government said in a news release Friday that the flags of Canada and Alberta must be flown outside schools during the school year. “Let’s teach our children to celebrate our amazing country and province,” Premier Danielle Smith said in a social media post. The new rules also permit some other flags — including the Franco-Albertan flag, municipal flags, flags related to sports teams and the Vatican City flag — to be displayed on school grounds. Others, including First Nations and Métis Settlement flags, foreign national flags and the Royal Union Flag, can only be displayed on specified days or on official occasions and must not stay up for more than 14 consecutive days. Who you gonna call? Rivian channels 'Ghostbusters' with one-of-a-kind Ecto-R1 for Halloween season

Rivian's smaller, more affordable R2 has arrived, giving the electric vehicle maker an entry in the crucial compact SUV market. But the company is also drawing attention with a Halloween-themed spin on another vehicle in its lineup. The automaker has transformed a Rivian R1S into a modern homage to Ecto-1, the decked-out vintage Cadillac ambulance featured in the 1984 supernatural comedy "Ghostbusters. " Rivian calls its customized vehicle Ecto-R1. The white SUV features red graphics and an assortment of equipment mounted on its roof, echoing the look of the movie vehicle. "Lean into pop culture. Find a way to do something that's very fun and playful, and find a way for people to engage in our vehicles that maybe they haven't before. So one of the things we decided to do this year was 'Ghostbusters,'" said Jeff Hammoud, Rivian's chief design officer. The one-of-a-kind Ecto-R1 is not for sale. Rivian's creative team built the vehicle for a promotion that includes an advertisement featuring original "Ghostbusters" star Bill Murray. The ad offers an updated version of the movie's plot, with Murray using the Rivian Ecto-R1 to capture the animated character "Slimer.

Prince Harry’s wife Meghan ‘deeply distressed’ by allegations her father had indecent images

LONDON (AP) — Prince Harry’s wife, Meghan, said Friday she was “deeply distressed” by allegations that a collection of child sexual abuse images had been found at her father’s former home. She also revealed that a letter containing “troubling allegations” about him had been sent to London police in 2018. Meghan, also known as the Duchess of Sussex, issued the statement after The Sun, a British tabloid newspaper, reported that her brother found the images while clearing out the home of their father, Thomas Markle Sr., in the Philippines. “I am deeply distressed at the news that has come to light in the last 24 hours, and my thoughts are with any children who may have been harmed,’’ Meghan said in a statement. She also addressed the letter sent to the Metropolitan Police Service’s Royal and Specialist Protection unit, which later shared its contents with her. “It made troubling and disturbing allegations against my father and I was given assurances that these were being investigated.
