Why Laramie County Sheriff’s Office uniforms have a splash of pink this October - Your Wyoming Link
A little pink is making its way onto Laramie County Sheriff’s Office uniforms this October, as participating personnel raise breast cancer awareness and donate to the Wyoming Breast Cancer Initiative. “We want them to know that we're thinking about them,” said Perry Rockvam, chief deputy with the Laramie County Sheriff’s Office. “We just don't want anybody to be forgotten when it comes to breast cancer.”The tradition began during Sheriff Brian Kozak’s tenure, when a group of deputies, including Corporal Heather Wilson, asked for permission to wear pink in October to show support for people affected by breast cancer. Kozak approved the request, and the practice has continued since then. The department’s standard pink addition is the sheriff’s patch. Some personnel, however, have added their own pink touches to their uniforms and equipment. Laramie County deputies display pink sheriff’s patches for Breast Cancer Awareness Month
