It all came down to the final day of the season in both the Drivers' and Teams' championships, with Antonio Felix da Costa and Mitch Evans playing the team game to perfection to give Jaguar TCS Racing their second Formula E Teams' title. REPORT: Wehrlein navigates dramatic finale to seal Drivers' title as Barnard wins in LondonHeading into race day, the British-based squad led the way in the standings, with Porsche needing to outscore their rivals in order to clinch the silverware - having already beaten Jaguar in the hunt for the Manufacturers' World Championship in Tokyo. In a frantic title-deciding race, both teams experienced dramatic highs and lows with da Costa doing his bit via an impressive defensive performance, holding off a charging Pascal Wehrlein for a large portion of the E-Prix. The Portuguese driver eventually crossed the chequered flag in 15th, but his relentless defensive strategy helped his teammate pick up the critical championship points. "Antonio, from the minute he got into the team, has been just incredibly collaborative," said Jaguar TCS Racing Team Principal Ian James.

Tom Skerritt, Emmy-winning actor who starred in ‘Alien’ and ‘Top Gun,’ has died
NEW YORK (AP) — Tom Skerritt, the Emmy-winning actor who embodied a solid, wry authority figure, whether as a flight instructor in “Top Gun,” a tough-but-fair sheriff on TV’s “Picket Fences” or the doomed captain of “Alien,” has died. He was 93. Skerritt died Wednesday of natural causes, his family said in a statement. “While the world knew Tom through his remarkable acting career, we knew him for his humor, curiosity, wisdom, generosity and the love he brought into our lives. He cared deeply about imagination, creativity, storytelling, service, veterans, the natural world and helping others find and share their own voices,” the statement said. Skerritt was twice nominated for an Emmy — both for “Picket Fences,” winning outstanding lead actor in a drama series in 1993. Other career highlights include playing the patient husband of Shirley MacLaine in “Turning Point,” Sally Field’s husband in “Steel Magnolias” and a scheming opportunist who stands in the way of Jodie Foster’s attempt to communicate with extraterrestrial life in “Contact.”Get Starting PointA guide through the most important stories of the morning, delivered Monday through Friday.

Former Red Sox first baseman/outfielder Todd Benzinger dead at the age of 63
Todd Benzinger, whose nine-year major league career began in 1987 with the Red Sox, died on Wednesday, according to the Cincinnati Reds. He was 63. No cause of death was given. Benzinger was a fourth-round draft pick of the Red Sox in 1981 out of New Richmond (Ohio) High School. He played parts of seven seasons in the minors before making his major league debut. A first baseman and outfielder, Benzinger hit .263 with a .743 OPS and 21 home runs over two seasons and 193 games for the Sox. Benzinger became the everyday first baseman for the 1998 Sox after Joe Morgan was named manager in July. Benzinger drove in 70 runs for a team that finished 89-73 before being swept by Oakland in the American League Championship Series. Following that season, Benzinger was traded to the Reds as part of a five-player deal that brought slugging first baseman Nick Esasky to Boston. Benzinger was a popular player with the Reds, having grown up in the Cincinnati suburbs. He was a platoon first baseman when the team won the 1990 World Series with a sweep of the favored Athletics. Benzinger caught the final out of the Series, a foul popup by Carney Lansford. A trade sent Benzinger to the Royals in 1991.
